How does one go about painting a cloth suit like that anyway? I've never tried. I'm of course happy for anyone that is satisfied by this release. I wish I were. The show has declined in quality, but the first few seasons have a lot of heart.
You can get synthetic dyes but they usually require a lot of heat to stick so not likely to be the route people are taking.

I’ve had good success painting fabrics with acrylic paints. If watered down and applied carefully it won’t gum up or crack and can be a quick solution for creating custom colored fabrics. I think HT even did something similar with Mando’s flight suit.

Instead of the show running on the CW with its standard 21+ ep. season, a show like this could benefit with fewer ep on something like HBO max. Similar to daredevil where it’s 7-8 ep per season. with a higher budget and fewer episodes, the writing and momentum wouldn’t be held back by senseless padding.

Thanks for the tips!

Re season length... yeah, The Flash ends up with a LOT of padding, and that is one show that never really learned how to do a pad episode while maintaining any momentum.

The best way I have found to paint fabric, whether it’s leather or cloth, is to us Angelus Leather paint. It says it’s for leather, but I’ve used it on cloth with great success, just have to water it down some. But the pigment is rich so it essentially dyes the fabric without having to go through the messy process and without making the fabric stiff once dried the way that regular acrylics might. If you want to be sure that the cloth remains super soft, Angelus makes an additive called “soft” or “softener” that you can mix in with the paint though I’ve never tried it.

But, whenever I know I’m going to have to put some work into a figure, I too, wait until I can get it on discount or super cheap on the aftermarket. I don’t like spending full price these days anyway but I definitely won’t spend full price on a figure I have to completely rework to get to my liking, no matter the company. That’s why I just won’t buy Endgame Cap no matter how much I want to. He needs new arms, padding for the traps and rear end, new helmeted portrait that then needs painting. Getting those things doesn’t come cheap, nor is it easy to get that suit off and back on to do those mods.

Would you recommend removing Flash's suit for the paint application? It seems like it would be easier to paint that way, but sometimes getting the suits off is such a pain.

Since you don't have to wash, rinse or apply heat to the colored areas like you would with a die or other fabric paints, I don't think taking the suit off would be necessary. Just the hands, boots, headsculpt, anything you don't want to accidently get paint on. The paint shouldn't bleed through to the other side, at least in my experience. I did this to my SS Wonder Woman figure for her red and blue areas without taking the suit off, and nothing got onto the TBLeague body.

It really is a shame because of lighting , people are getting the bad scheme on the red coloring like this

well in fact ..in person it actually is more muted and less pronounced in hand

and even this pic is not accurate to what it looks like to your eye . The red is even more darkened in tint and tone as well as the black streaks aren’t really so elevated and noticeable..in hand the Starks blend better with the suit material

when watching S2 the other day..I’m almost convinced this is the version HT was going for with the more reddish tint . So those who want the S1 tone you can dye it custom style.. but in hand this is pretty close to accurate of the tone of S2-S3.

I guess as always comes down to collector’s preference but as a fan of the S2-S3 tint , people will be way off thinking this is an epic fail by HT I kid you not :lecture

The color is honestly not even the biggest issue.

It's that helmet head and the lumpy shoulders.

I’m no photographer, but Barry just landed. The likeness and color are better in hand than in photos, but still, I can absolutely understand the complaints. I think a $190-220 entrance fee would reduce the negativity around this figure a bit.

Overall, I’m pretty happy! And, he fits in nicely with my various Olivers.

(It does not look this bright in person!)

Seeing that this series is in its eighth year, its somewhat perplexing why it has taken Hot Toys so long to create product from this license. Its odd when the bootleg companies get extensive time on the shelf for a product long before the first real licensed piece comes out in this scale. All of this feels very late to the game and well behind his current look in the series. Hell, he just got his yellow boots added last night. Following the series would make me desire the current model, not something designed eight years earlier. It just feels very dated, and nonsensical to push it at current prices.

How much is shipping?
Shipping for the fastest version was $404hkd (about $51usd) cheapest takes about 60 days to receive was $226hkd which is $28.80usd - what help me is I was sitting on over 101,100 points which transfers to a coupon for $101.10hdk off and yes you can use coupons on sale prices - so I opted for fastest shipping (He is the Flash after all) so my shipping was only $302.90hkd so I paid only $38.48. The figure was only $799hdk ($101.80usd) so shipped he was $140usd. I don’t think he’s on sale anymore though. Everyday they have new figures on sale though.
