No, a straight swap onto the Tech Noir body isn't possible, a lot of us would have done that if we could. The bulkier chest of that body is more suitable for T1 than the stock MMS238 body which looks too small with the huge MMS238 heads. Hot Toys really screwed up on this one.

I think the problem was that the neck plug of the MMS136 Tech Noir body sits lower than the equivalent part of the MMS238 body so the 238 head joint can't reach it, least not without squashing the neck. It's been so long since I did any of this I'm finding it hard to remember exactly.

I know that what I personally did was I took the muscle-chest thing off of the Tech Noir body and transferred it onto the 238 body. It still required a minor squashing of the head down onto the neck to get the parts to connect but it was possible. I think I also had to stuff the neck with cotton wool to get it to fill that opening in the huge MMS238 heads. Not ideal but better than the Anorexic-800.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the MMS238 body is based off the TTM20?

I'm sure HT deliberately use differing bodies, neck pegs and such, to make interchangeability awkward. They did this when the DX10 T800 came out. Collectors thought they could upgrade the older MMS117 T800 figure, just by getting the new DX10 head and swapping it over. HT knew this was a possibility, so made sure the neck joint was subtly different on both figures. This forces collectors to buy a whole new figure.

Why would they go to the trouble, when all their Terminator figures sell out quickly? These conspiracy theories make no sense considering reality. It's not like Hot Toys produces these lines for ever. They produce X units, and all of them sell out (the Terminator lines, not ALL Hot Toys lines).

Is he wrong?

I thought DX10 and TTM20 were the same body and in turn the MMS238 is the same other than the blood-stained chest and the surgery arm.

They're the same as far as I know. I just wanted to post that gif. :lol

Yeah I have both the TTM20 and MMS238 body and checked; they're the same sculpt minus the surgery arm.

That's what I thought. Because I remember being annoyed when I realized Hot Toys switching to a slimmer chest body with DX10 was actually just a fluke. When DX10 initially came out it seemed like they recognized there ought to be a size difference between T1 and T2. But then they go and use that smaller body for a T1 figure - while at the same time making the damn head much bigger. Then it was clear they didn't know or they didn't care.

:lol Now you need the Commando 'I lied' GIF. Or indeed the Terminator 3 one.

Yeah I agree, HT's scaling seems inconsistent. Besides the HT Hulk, I wonder what is the biggest, bulkiest body they've produced thus far.

What's the T3 one? :lol

Well what are their 'big men' candidates that they've made

Arnie, The Rock, Dave Bautista, Tom Hardy (puny big man lol)

I can only speak of the Arnie bodies, and not even all of them - I never bought John Matrix from Commando, that had a new body. Of the ones I have owned Dutch from Predator maybe had the biggest body. He majorly skipped leg day though.

What's the T3 one? :lol

Can't find a GIF for it actually but

So at least twice he uttered these immortal words.

The body for the Tech Noir Arnie was near perfect, proportion wise imo. The 238 should of been such a better fig, but we got the soft sculpt and the undersized body. We did get an accurate AR 15 though, oh and the correct coloured cargo pants, they came in handy for my Tech Noir fig.

I've recently acquired the new Worldbox AT027 body, which looks like one of the biggest standard bodies made. Here it is next to the MMS 238 body:

You mentioned the head sculpts from this release are over scaled, I'm thinking if they may fit in proportion to the Worldbody body; I'm thinking of obtaining a headsculpt to make a T-800.

Hmmm. I foresee problems with that one. It's probably too tall for Arnie and too big for the clothes - certainly the clothes of MMS238. I think the grey vest is too small even on its own stock body so if you put it on that Worldbox body his belly will probably be exposed. The leather jacket is also pretty tight. Then there's the problem of the head attachment. I don't think it will work with that neck.

Yeah I suspect it'd need larger clothing, and I recalled a few reviews showing the ball joint on the head sculpts and it doesn't seem compatible, alas.

Ah well, I'd now wait for a decent deal to pass by or wait for HT to release some new Terminator figures :lol
The Great Twins 1/12 Endoskeleton seems like it might be a great representation; but the 1/4 HT Endo would be the pinnacle for me.
