Two collecting hobbies?? That’s wild. What’s typically more expensive, the watches or the figures?
Watches are by far more expensive to collect than figures. For instance I have a couple Omega Planet Ocean Chronographs and just those two were more than my whole collection of 40 figures (at this point).

But of course, it all depends on the watch collector some guys like to collect G Shocks some guys Rolex.

I am an Omega, Panerai, Rolex guy... that said I have several less expensive watches that I love, my G Shock Atomic Frog is one of my favorites and it was only 600 bucks I think ( it was like 8 years ago when I bought it :))

Yeah watches are a whole other ballgame, probably right there on the side of collecting vintage guitars and jewelry. I couldnt really justify that hobby stylistically ( I'm more the flip flop and hawaiian shirt guy) or financially.

That’s great! My dad collected watches for awhile until he retired. I like watches for that reason but I don’t collect them. At least nothing that expensive. The most I’ve ever spent on a watch was $400 which is nothing in the watch collecting game lol

I didn't know you also collected watches Omega! Pretty cool, it must be fun collecting both watches and figures in tandem, I presume. Say, is that where you got your username? ;)

Yeah I love watches bk they are little machines that are able to keep time. Granted a Casio or Apple Watch is more accurate but several of my automatic watches are accurate to +/- 2 seconds a day which to me is amazing, so I sort of like look at them as a functional work of art I get to wear.

And it doesn’t matter what the watch costs as long as it is special to you or has some meaning that’s all that is important IMO. As I mentioned my Atomic Frog is one of my favorite watches because of its appearance, functions, and bullet proof durability …I to wear the s..t out of it. It is unique in my collection so it is a valued addition despite being the least expensive

Hahaha

You got me Zurdo!!!
I took my username from the movement in my favorite chronographs. I have a couple of Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronographs (grey bezel and orange bezel) and they both have the 9300 movement/caliber.

Here are a couple of pics from last year from my phone …

Yeah, I slowed down my watch collecting several years ago. Then in 2017 (I think) I started with Hot Toys Dark World Thor (heavy armor). It would be irresponsible for me to do both right now. I have a daughter who just finished her first year in college and a 16 yo son who is going to be in college soon.

Luckily I am a Prof. at a University that is part of a consortium with about 150 other colleges and universities nationally that offer tuition exchanges for children of faculty, staff and administrators so that will help. Of course my daughter’s school is not in the consortium (Johns Hopkins) but she got some great grants, scholarships, and work study so that all helps a lot. My son wants to go to the university I work for so it’s not so bad will just have to pay for housing if he wants to live on campus. But still there will be lots of incidentals.

So I am planning on finishing up my watch collection with a Rolex Sea Dweller Deep Sea ( James Cameron edition) It is a watch I have been wanting a while and it will cap off my watch collection well.

Cool to know! :lol

Wow those are some slick watches and a nice presentation case!

Understandable, I'd imagine it be a bit much collecting both at the same time, especially given the costs associated. From the sound of it, I presume you have a curated collection of watches you're happy with, which is great! :)

Haha, speaking of collecting other things, I'm a huge tennis fan/player and I have collected tennis racquets (plus tennis court shoes and apparel) along with action figures for a time. Of course the prices for tennis racquets aren't as costly as top tier watches :lol but they're comparable to what HT figures retailed for some years back. I had pretty much finished collecting tennis racquets around 2018 since I felt I had acquired the majority of racquets I wanted to attain, and since then I've only bought a few and focused primarily on figures.

Much respect Omega! :duff

Ah nothing like getting that final piece to complete your collection!

Thanks Zurdo

That particular case was a gift from my wife last Christmas. It is a small case and winder by WOLF. If you ever get into automatic watches they make really good winders. I thought it was super cool of my wife to pick that up for me sonce she knows I will use it.

Yeah when I first started collected watches in the early 1990’s I was pretty random about what I collected. By 2003 I decided to be much more targeted and bought watches that I appreciated for particular reasons. I also bought fewer but higher quality watches.

Collecting rackets and tennis apparel sounds cool, how do you display them? If you have any pics please share here or in my “messages”. I think it’s interesting how we develop interests in particular things and decide to collect them.

And yeah I think I will feel “done” when I add the Sea Dweller Deep Sea, of course I’m not sure how it will hit me. Of course I will still get a new Garmin tracker and maybe a beater watch like a Seiko Turtle but yeah nothing substantial.

Collecting is great

They basically changed Hela's power base in Ragnarok and gave Hela Gor's ability to generate swords, which was dumb to begin with. Then the very next movie they use Gor as the villain, and then need to change him as well...

So now Gor uses a sword rather than generating his own... The MCU version of Marvel's characters are resembling/looking less and less like their comic book counterparts as time goes on...

:slap

That looks dumb as ****.... :lol Does Thor loose Stormbreaker too know?

I'm looking forward to the reviews on this. I have bad vibes it's TOO campy.

What has happened to the once mighty MCU? :dunno
Thor probably can’t access Stormbreaker temporarily for some reason so uses the Lighting Bolt for a short time. Looks as though Valkyrie uses the LB for a bit also.

As to how campy the film is or if it is bad, I’ll wait and see for myself.

Taika hasn’t made a bad movie his whole career, and he won’t be starting now with a character he put a very firm grip on in Ragnarok. More campy doesn’t mean bad.

I think he's a total cuckoo bird and disliked JoJo Rabbit but, I'm in the minority on all those opinions.

I feel his pisstaking shtick is getting old now. I've never seen the guy give a straight answer to any question.

I get that's his thing but I like movies to have some degree of seriousness and not undercut every scene with a joke.

Hemsworth clearly prefers playing Thor as a jokey character compared to stiff Shakespeare God, but come on not everything has to be ha ha funny especially when you have someone of Christian Bale's calibre in the same frame.

I think Taika is like his films, loves to take the p**s as a defense mechanism but has a very deep thoughtful heart. Hunt For The Wilderpeople and Boy are really good examples of this.

So how are we feeling about the NEW arms for Thor from hot toys' love and thunder version? I also added a bts photo of Hemsworth getting fitted for the film for proper comparison.
Personally I feel that the Infinity War arms were modeled completely with him in mind and match his cuts (especially in his shoulder) and even veins great. The old ones just looked horrible and the newest version just seems like generic muscle guy. What do you think?

If I do end up getting this gold and blue Thor... I may ended up swapping the arms for IW
