Re: Hot Toys - TMS033 & TMS034 - The Mandalorian: Boba Fett (Regular and Deluxe versi

Now the top selling Star Wars product for Sideshow, surpassing the Pre-Order for Mando + Child deluxe and the in-stock Commander Cody.

Crazy after only a day being up.

After preordering this set I really need to re-evaluate my 2022 preorders! Suddenly all the troopers don?t seem as exciting or vital to the collection. Likewise don?t think I need a Tusken raider anymore since Nomad Fett has a gaffi stick and robes.

Yeah, I feel the same. I was going to pre-order a Trooper or two (Shore, Tank, Transport), but I probably will pass now aside from Rex and maybe a 501st Trooper. Still think I want a Tusken Raider though.

Wound up pre-ordering with Alter Ego. After I ordered there are two left.

Re: Hot Toys - TMS033 & TMS034 - The Mandalorian: Boba Fett (Regular and Deluxe versi

As much as I love that Boba head sculpt, I have zero interest in the monk outfit. I just can't justify spending close to $500 on something I'm only half interested in. Part of me wants to get the standard and hope I can acquire the head later -- but that will be pricey I imagine.

Here's hoping the inevitable fresh paint Boba from the new series also comes with a head sculpt. I just hope he doesn't grow a goatee or something!

Exactly my sentiment.

The ultimate Boba Fett is still the ESB one for me until now. This one is way too weathered and lookes only half armored to me. And I have no interest in the monk look.

The portrait is out of this world, but 500 USD for a portrait? Really not sure...

Re: Hot Toys - TMS033 & TMS034 - The Mandalorian: Boba Fett (Regular and Deluxe versi

I've only just purchased my first Boba in the 40th Anniversary so there's no way I can justify this. The head sculpt is just incredible and I'd be happy to pay over the odds to put it on that figure.

If they had the head sculpt with the Boba repainted in the later season 2 episodes, I'd probably be all over that.

Oh okay so it's a continuity error between ROTJ and Mando and HT just stayed accurate to Mando it looks like.

(And :lol at the trooper crawling around on all fours like a beast, lol)

I?ve just noticed that on the repainted version he?s got the correct ROTJ knee pads. I guess he had a few laying around inside Slave I since he got his left knee pad back too lol

Fett raises his right knee to fire so HT gave us a flight pole and the rocks on the wrong side? :slap

I think HT might have that covered.

The bases here look like they're reversed, with the nomad version facing the opposite direction. There looks to be a rectangular cutout on the armoured version's stand - a rock covering a hole so you can change the grabber from front to back:

On display at Secret Base. Still crazy to see such a bundle from HT again. Will make for one great looking display.

I can imagine the new movement ...... repainted Boba regular and Deluxe version with the throne.

Re: Hot Toys - TMS033 & TMS034 - The Mandalorian: Boba Fett (Regular and Deluxe versi

This release is like a roller coaster. It looks absolutely unbelievable and may turn out to be one of the best hot toys releases. However, do I really need a $500 set that was basically only in one episode? When we know the repaint with throne is on the way too?

Somebody call my hot toys anonymous sponsor, I may fall off the wagon...

Yea, but that was a bad ass episode. You got to see boba kick some serious ass and the end of the razor crest.

As I posted in the Mando thread look what that "one episode" gave us though:

Switching gears back to the actual show I must say that with all the fun of HT's awesome new Boba Fett set that I really do find "The Tragedy" to be one of the most entertaining aspects of SW since the OT (despite my initial misgivings as to how Fett was presented.) In just a little over 30 minutes it pays tribute to almost every era of SW across multiple mediums.

I mean just look at this breakdown:

OT: Classic Stormtroopers/Slave I/ROTJ Fett armor
PT: Temeura Morrison
ST: FO style dropships
TCW/Rebels: Ahsoka being mentioned by name and then the Darksaber at the end
Holiday Special: Fett befriending the main heroes
90's video games: Dark Troopers
Legends EU: Fett returning from the Sarlacc
Kenner toys: Just the whole feel of the entire episode being "kids playing with their action figures"
And then of course new stuff like the characters of Din, Fennec, Cara Dune, Grogu using new Force powers to call out to Jedi, etc.

Of course I realize that many will consider some of the above elements to be negatives but I don't. I love it all. It's like the nexus of all things Star Wars and it's all packaged in a super streamlined 30 minute action extravaganza.

Re: Hot Toys - TMS033 & TMS034 - The Mandalorian: Boba Fett (Regular and Deluxe versi

Wasn?t planning to get this, but the amazing DX pulled me in.

Re: Hot Toys - TMS033 & TMS034 - The Mandalorian: Boba Fett (Regular and Deluxe versi

I was pulled in by how cool the Sarlacc Pit version looks. I like battle damage/wear on figures. Almost waited due to the look only really being in one episode.

Re: Hot Toys - TMS033 & TMS034 - The Mandalorian: Boba Fett (Regular and Deluxe versi

To say it?s ?just one episode? is severely downplaying it. That entire 25 minutes was a Top 10 Star Wars moment. I wouldn?t even argue with anyone who puts it in their Top 5. These figures are literally peak Star Wars greatness.

I like the figures a lot, which is why I pre-ordered, but I feel like an episode of a show is pretty small in the grand scheme of things. It even feels less than the film appearances, which were shorter than the episode.

That's why I wasn't going to get this one but wait for the repainted version.

That's why I think I'm changing my mind. :lol

The short lived ratty armour represents the return of the legend, while the nomad look represents his five years in the desert.

The Book of Boba Fett may revisit the nomad garb in flashbacks.

Hear hear, plus the bald monk look will forever be representative of his first ever on-screen kills.
