Hot Toys - TMS051/2 - Mandalorian and Grogu (Season 2)

Hopping in the Mandowagon here. Got my deluxe set yesterday and immediately got to tinkering. I had picked up some extra v2 parts cheap on Toy Anxiety and swapped out his apron for the v2 version, which has less goofy weathering, and swapped the wired cape for the v2 drape cape, which sits nicer at rest. These are removable velcro applied parts, so easy enough to switch back later. Plus, it required I take apart most of the upper suit and redress him, which allowed me to tweak the fit and position of things a bit.

Also use Oaty's Cape Cod cloth method to polish the armor up. Didn't remove all the weathering, just dialed it down.

**Side note, that spear carrier accessory is useless. The spear just slides right out of it.

Know your question isn't directed at me, but if you mean compared to v1/2, no, because of the small seams on the sides and bottom for the wiring. V2 cape doesn't have the ragged holes.

Mine is from the Mando & Blurg set, and is an exact match right down to length, color and ragged hole pattern. Just doesn't have the wire and wire seams.

Welcome! Sounds like the V1 cape was revamped for V3 e.g. the roadworn look. I do like the V3 wiring tho, even if it's not screen accurate. HT kept the wire seams as small as possible, they're not obtrusive.

That's why I picked up the identical unwired Mando/Blurgg cape. Since they're both just velcro'd onto the suit, it's fun to have both options. The unwired for the straight natural drape, and the wired for big action poses.

Also, I much prefer the cleaner padding from earlier Mandos to this new V3 pad. The new version just looks so messy with all that clumpy weathering. I don't remember his torso pads looking nearly as funked up on the actual show.

Maybe, but I like it, reminds of all the SAND. So much SAND. SAND and dust, 'coz these shows have had a thing for Tatooine. Since I'm keeping my V1 and V2, the V2 for me is clean enough.

Comparison of Hot Toys armor paint, against a full scale helmet paint with the show accurate Alumaluster paint/process. HT got pretty damn close, but their's is just a bit too bright and about 30% too reflective, just shy of mirror chrome. While the accurate alumaluster is used on a black base at roughly 80% opacity, so it's darker, richer, and not as reflective, a much more polished aluminum type finish rather than mirror chrome.

Maybe that's why HT added all the weathering. They realized he was too shiny and reflective...

I caved and ordered the regular from Sideshow, also got the cape cod cloths and replacement v2 waist pad ordered too.

I just threw out the figure, and am only displaying the Cape Cod pack, it really is gorgeous, shiny packaging looks great!

FYI this is all natural lighting, no photophakery, It only took about an hr. to get the pose and lighting just right though.

The only thing I'm struggling with, with this figure is how hard it is to capture how good it looks IRL.

Super, super happy with it by damn near impossible to capture how good it is or do it any sort of justice.

Cape is about an inch shorter in addition to the wire and ragged edge by my reckoning
