First off, for scaling, you gotta know that all sculpts are done slightly larger for shrinkage so the production piece will be in the right scale.
You know - I hadn't factored that figure in, but it wasn't one I'm really familiar with anyway.
Yeah - pretty much. The BD looked decent on this one but like the BD mk 7 i think pulls off the look better because they can paint it fully damaged. I think that was the orignal point of the poster you are responding to.And I agree with that, I like the swap out part options but for a fully damaged figure i would prefer a separate release where they do not have to compromise on the paint.
No. No one's holding a gun to your head and forcing you to buy it.

Can someone explain to me why a person's enjoyment of the first version would decrease because a second unmasked version exists that they can't afford? They showed a picture of what you're getting, and people ordered it based on that picture. Now they're not happy because...they showed another picture of something else that'll also be for sale?
If you don't like it, don't buy it. If you like it, buy it. If like it but can't afford it, save some money or sell some of your other stuff that you don't like as much.
If you feel as though you're owed something that wasn't in the original picture...oh boy. You've got entitlement issues that go deeper than toy collecting.

Looks great, but I know nothing about those pieces or whether they work well / don't interrupt the aesthetics too much.
The difference with RoboCop - primarily, is the leg holster. BD pieces for that would be a challenge to say the least, IMO.
Yeah - pretty much.
So they made an actual BD mkVI then I'm taking it?
I agree with folks like a-dev; specific requirements for specific versions - if the better option, that's my vibe.
I wouldn't want a mish mash of stuff with compromises everywhere just to try and get everything into one release. No more than I would have wanted BD T-800 parts to have come with the DX10 and everything else that figure had. Inevitably it would have come up short in some way and no single look from the movie would be recreatable with full accuracy. Likewise here, and perhaps even moreso here.
The more casual fan wouldn't care but many of us would and thankfully its the latter group that HT are catering to. Conveniently for them that means more money of course.
I still think they should include a clean unmasked HS version with the diecast figures...
You seem to think Hot Toys are very incapable of kitting out full clean and damaged parts to swap out. For $300 they could do it quite easily. But.....
The DX10 nearly becomes with the same stuff. But it's the weapons. Thats not the same though. Damaged metal plates vs damaged flesh.
Come on, put your logic head on and get out of the suckered hype for a moment.
