I have a gun pointed to his head right now. I'm gonna shoot him if he doesn't do what I say. Nobody try to be a hero either. If I see any sudden movements out of anybody I'll put you down too.

First off, for scaling, you gotta know that all sculpts are done slightly larger for shrinkage so the production piece will be in the right scale.

Actually that's incorrect. At least in regards to Hot Toys. Not only do they routinely show raw sculpts for their figures (which are the same size as the final piece) but someone on here was lucky enough to score the original sculpt for HT's Predator 1 (head + open/closed mandibles) from the artist who sculpted them. Can't remember who it was though. And the sculpts were the same size as the finished, production pieces.

You're probably thinking of 2-up sculpts that are significantly bigger than the finalized pieces.

You know - I hadn't factored that figure in, but it wasn't one I'm really familiar with anyway.

Looks great, but I know nothing about those pieces or whether they work well / don't interrupt the aesthetics too much.

The difference with RoboCop - primarily, is the leg holster. BD pieces for that would be a challenge to say the least, IMO.

The BD looked decent on this one but like the BD mk 7 i think pulls off the look better because they can paint it fully damaged. I think that was the orignal point of the poster you are responding to.And I agree with that, I like the swap out part options but for a fully damaged figure i would prefer a separate release where they do not have to compromise on the paint.
Yeah - pretty much. :duff

So they made an actual BD mkVI then I'm taking it?

I agree with folks like a-dev; specific requirements for specific versions - if the better option, that's my vibe. :)

I'm excited... until Robo Cop 2 comes out then they'll force me to spend more money for my 3rd Robo Cop! Darn you Hot Toys! :lol j/k

After watching the ROBOCOP again,I have almost no doubt that this version will be referred to as Battle Damage.Be the representation of the final scenes of the first movie.

Will not come with the helmet, and the damage will be more severe.

Now it was really necessary to do a separate version?

Hot Toys has taken a disconcerting course

If I don't get this head as an added accessory with my PO'd diecast version, all I can say is:
Thanks HT, for the nice photos I will use to create an accurate knock-off. :)

I would just like a clean "helmeted" version with exposed "Murphy" head sculpt. I don't need "this part of movie or that part of movie" versions. I only want "One" representation of Robocop in my display. I do also believe that the unmasked Robocop is equally as important as Masked. If you don't agree….look at your Predators.

The sculpt looks good! I really hope HT doesnt try to milk a Robocop line like they did with Iron Man.

Can someone explain to me why a person's enjoyment of the first version would decrease because a second unmasked version exists that they can't afford? They showed a picture of what you're getting, and people ordered it based on that picture. Now they're not happy because...they showed another picture of something else that'll also be for sale?

If you don't like it, don't buy it. If you like it, buy it. If like it but can't afford it, save some money or sell some of your other stuff that you don't like as much.

If you feel as though you're owed something that wasn't in the original picture...oh boy. You've got entitlement issues that go deeper than toy collecting. :)

Yeah, it's a really weird attitude. Seems like a fair percentage of collectors cannot be happy with what they have or be happy choosing their favourite version. Instead, they'd prefer to feel "screwed over" by Hot Toys for daring to release two versions. And stop comparing DX Luke to these sets. Not even remotely the same thing. <<-- Directed at those making the comparison, not you, JP.

Entitlement issues? unlike totally adversarial posts like yours designed with the sole purpose of ticking people off. People are upset because Hot Toys could've waited and then revealed all their versions and not let everyone think that there would be no version with a head sculpt . It was the sole critcism of all the past versions, and for them to pull this crap is downright Sh@@ty of them

:pfft::pfft:

I think people are disappointed because they thought there wouldn't be another version. And that the lack of an unmasked headsculpt was an indication that it wouldn't happen (crazy idea, right..? not.) and that the rumor of Weller not wanting to give out his likeness was true. I don't think anyone expected Hot Toys to milk RoboCop out of all licenses.

I still think they should include a clean unmasked HS version with the diecast figures and let the second version just be a completely BD figure.

Meh, to me we should be happy they're releasing as much cool stuff from the franchise as they are. There's no need to have absolutely every version, either. Robo's most iconic look is definitely the clean version, so don't see what the big deal is.

Swap the parts:

I wouldn't want a mish mash of stuff with compromises everywhere just to try and get everything into one release. No more than I would have wanted BD T-800 parts to have come with the DX10 and everything else that figure had. Inevitably it would have come up short in some way and no single look from the movie would be recreatable with full accuracy. Likewise here, and perhaps even moreso here.

The more casual fan wouldn't care but many of us would and thankfully its the latter group that HT are catering to. Conveniently for them that means more money of course.

You seem to think Hot Toys are very incapable of kitting out full clean and damaged parts to swap out. For $300 they could do it quite easily. But.....

The DX10 nearly becomes with the same stuff. But it's the weapons. Thats not the same though. Damaged metal plates vs damaged flesh.

Come on, put your logic head on and get out of the suckered hype for a moment.

I would pay the $300 price tag for this. I will not pay $600 for two versions (I don't like two versions of a character in my display). Can I afford $600? YES! But $600 is ridiculous for two of the same character.

Peoples complaints have been contradictory. On the one hand saying that HT should include all these different swap out plates and on the other complaining about gimmickry.

But lets say it could be done - personally I would have been buying more than one anyway to set up each version seperately - thusly I don't care that they're making them as seperate figures. Instead of buying one figure 2 or 3 times I'll be buying 3 different releases once each :dunno Now, I appreciate that thats just me. What HT have done suits me. I'd prefer if they were cheaper but that is all.
