Hot Toys Will Turner from Pirates of the Caribbean

I got the newsletter from hot toys just now saying that there will be Will Turner and someone else figures from hot toys due to release Q1 2008,maybe its Bill Turner?

This is the email i got:

Huh.....Bill Turner would be the most obvious but a little plain for an offering. If the detail is a clue then if Will is bringing people back it should be the Will from the end of the film meaning we might get a cool scar across the chest. Bill Turner was a crewman on the Flying Dutchman so it might be that incarnation.

Good news about Will. I wonder which version it will be. I think I liked him the best at the end of the movie, he seemed more like a pirate than Jim Hawkins. Barbossa is the figure I would be most interested in being released as well.

I'm only keeping my Sparrow on order if DAVY shows up soon.

I would however accept Barbossa as well.

No interest in Eliz or Will. Maybe I'll pick them up down the road on ebay if they drop to like $75 or something. But Sparrow, Davy and Barbossa I'll pay top buck for.

I would prefer Davy, but I can see that he might be complicated... so it is likely that Barbossa would be easier to make and a more likely candidate while the line continues to test the popularity (profitability) of POTC 1/6th.

I also expect a "Blister" Barbossa down the line in his half skeletal form...

That is SO true. He is just in huge franchise movies. LoTR, he was easily replacable, PoTC he was as well as he was in Troy. He's got a good big.

But I would also want a Barbossa. He single handedly made Pirates #3 watchable for me.

they just need him to make the movie posters look good for the ladies. maybe increase ticket sales on guy movies if you can get a few drooling chicks to go see it.

BILL Turner would be the worst of all possible offerings. I'd rather have any of Davy's crew other than him.

If they are offering a fairly basic figure like WILL TURNER next, then the secret 2nd figure better be something exceptional -- like DAVY or BARBOSSA.

That Will is "bringing someone with him" is an ominous clue. It actually could be Bill. I would have completely dismissed this except they did make Sao Feng, only because of who played him, and I could see them doing Bill Turner for the same reason. Back when the Stones were starting, did Keith Richards ever think that in 2007 he'd have TWO action figures made of him? (Could he even dream that he'd still be alive in 2007?)

But if it isn't Barbossa or Davy, HT is going to have a very unhappy Davy right here.

I'll definitely get Will.

I see Jack, Elizabeth and Will like I do Harry, Ron and Hermione. You can't have just two of them without the third. They work as a trio.

I hope the other figure is Barbossa or Davy (human, if need be). And I'd love a Calypso, too.

Yikes, with those two clues it kinda does sound like it could be Bootstrap. I wouldn't think he would be all that popular of a choise.

I was confused, I completely forgot about Bootstrap Bill. I'd rather see Jack's father than him. There's no excuse for them to do Bill at all really unless they expect this line to be as successful as Star Wars.

It's funny - with Sideshow we assume they'll do every character they possibly can. But with Hot Toys we just assume it will be the main character and anything after that is gravy.
