Jones was definitely less interesting in POTC 3. I was a little disappointed with him -- even his CGI seemed "rushed" compared to 2.

I'm glad somebody else noticed this. I thought that was the case too. In POTC 2 I thought he looked awesome but in 3 he lost something in personality and CGI.

Sadly I only was able to watch number 3 once so I will have to check that out when it comes out. It is a sad thing if it was rushed but not surprising. The first movie was by far the best of the series. After that they were decently good films. Without Depp though, I don't think I would be such a huge fan.

Definitely NOT Barbossa, the hat is not right for him his hat is HUGE.

I'm sure they will get to him though.

Wow! I really have to respectfully disagree. I found Jones a riveting character any time he was on screen, and one of the best, if not THE best, CGI characters done so far. His facial expressions seemed seamless to me and carried a lot of sublety.

But hey, I like monsters.

I pretty much agree with this entire post. I'd have to say Davey Jones is the most amazing CGI character not performed by Andy Serkis. Gollum is #1, then Kong, then Jones. He really was an amazing achievement.

I think Depp is what made and makes these films the blockbusters that they are. But yeah, pay attention to Jones when you watch 3 again. I thought he was flawless in POTC2 but not so much in 3.

I'm not really a big POTC fan, but I did love Davy Jones, both the performance and the CGI (although I haven't see the third film yet). I'd probably get him and a Jack Sparrow to go with him if he turns out well. Don't see much need to get anything else, though.

I love Bill Nighy... I love the way he turns around to speak with Shawn in Shawn of the Dead... He's just one of the really likable character actors!

I think that Jones was never a guaranteed figure, but now to know we're getting him I'm even more confident we'll also get Barbossa later on in the series! HTs continues to blow my mind!!!

Gollum was a great technical achievement, to be sure. But I believe it's a bit overrated (probably because it's from LOTR). IMHO, Gollum never looked as photoreal as either Kong or Davy Jones does in DMC.

I have a feeling we'll see some pics of Will soon, but just an outline of a movie image for Davey has me guessing it will be awhile before we see him. But with the improvements in sculpting I have a feeling he will be mindblowing!

Seriously though -- HT has like 2 more days to make this announcement. They said toward the end of the month. It's the 28th, that's toward, isn't it?
