Hot Toys Wonder Woman (WB 100)

Yeah and for some weird reasons, every company (except for Hot Toys) seems to have a hard time making good female figures with good likeness. Inart may be good at rooted hair with great material but...we have yet to see a good female figure from them. I'm not holding my breath. I prefer to think this figure won't happen and find something that has been released.

I guess my best bet would be to buy the WW 84 version and a Goden Armor head to put on her, in order to have the best likeness (to me) with a classic look. But it may be hard to find without buying the 2 figures...
Well...even if I buy these two WW figures, it will be cheaper than the WB100 version...

Haven't looked at prices lately, but I agree it would probably be cheaper to piece something together rather than get the WB100 version. While it's more work, you can also tailor it to your interests- there were some collectors who managed to get the JL/BvS costumes to fit on the WW84 body, if you want to go that route. I actually enjoy the WW84 look more (without the harness, shield, and sword) since that's closer to her classic comics look, and it looks fantastic with the GA head.

I actually like the GA outfit as well, but I don't think I can justify two WW figures that have the same head sculpt (I picked up an extra). I do think it looks great with the helmet on though (even if it hides the head sculpt).

I sorta did the reverse- picked up the GA figure (with the plans of using the head sculpt on my JL figure), then got the WW84 figure when it actually turned out better than the old figures (and also works with the GA head sculpt, unlike the JL release).

Yeah it’s not a figure but it is cool looking and that is a great pose!!!

Yes, the body is fantastic, it is very solid and heavy and looks really good. I can’t truly speak to the longevity of this body since it is not that old. That said, the body is holding up great so far, and still looks the same as it did when I first opened the box.

Longevity of silicone bodies will always depend on a number of factors of your display conditions like display case vs open air, room temperature, humidity and pose. You can do an action pose and leave it for a little while. But it's always best to not keep it in an action pose and instead return it to neutral for a good couple days/weeks to destress the material. The splitting of the material is usually caused by the constant stress put on the jointed areas like the elbows for instance.

But then again, the likeness is not Hot Toys quality.

I would argue the likeness is better. It just lacks the realism of details in the sculpts and paint apps. HT and customizers have had a hard time truly capturing Gal's likeness.

This figure was their test run for what became the Artisan editions. HT is working on 2.0s of their BvS lineup to try to compete with InArt who also has the BvS license. So, it won't be too long before HT releases a BvS Wonder Woman 2.0 with a sculpted hair option that will be widely available as well as a limited Artisan version. InArt will also be releasing a Gal Wonder Woman but I'd be willing to bet that they are further behind on RnD for her than HT is.

I just looked and saw three there ranging in price from about $215-229.

I got mine for less from Toy Anxiety (back in 2023), but at the current prices, it's cheaper to just get a GA figure, keep the head, and sell off the rest (there are new/complete sets on ebay selling for less than that inflated price).

It’s mostly just to compete with InArt from the looks. But, these versions of the characters themselves are still very popular at the moment regardless of how well the films have performed. I mentioned this in another thread as well, but the HT BvS figures are some of the most customized figures currently that ppl are paying good money for with plenty of custom headsculpts to go around, modified bodies etc.

HT already has BvS Batman and BvS armored Batman 2.0s up for order. BvS Superman is rumored to be next with Wonder Woman being the last one. Given that the artisan label is now for rooted headsculpts, it stands to reason that she will be one.

It's better than the first Hot Toys WW like BvS or Justice League for sure.

I’m not trying to be rude here but I’m not sure how you could not see where the competition comes from? HT has been king of 1/6 for a very long time and along came InArt to shake things up. It wasn’t until InArt came that HT started improving their headsculpts and making moveable eyes a standard rather than exclusive to the DX figures, creating the artisan label, amongst other things. HT didn’t improve their Pattison Batman until InArt revealed theirs.

I’m not the biggest InArt cheerleader, but, so far, the InArt BvS Superman, The Batman, and Pennywise have arguably all been better overall release than the HT versions. InArt TDK Joker is also considered to be overall bette than its HT predecessors at the time of its release. I would say it’s hard not to see how InArt would do a better Wonder Woman than at least HT previous attempts. Now, will it be better than the rumored eventual BvS 2.0 Wonder Woman? We won’t know until both are revealed.

I'm just not well informed of what happened between these companies. I'm not following everything that Hot Toys does.

Inart is also a lot more expensive. I guess it's a smaller company so it has to be more expensive because they don't have the same ressources that Hot Toys has.

This is my bigger issue, and why I went for WB100 Wonder Woman when she went up for sale. InArt is really lagging behind what they thought they would be capable of. Their original list of confirmed releases is barely trickling out.

As much as I feel confident InArt's will be better, it's a matter of when. And boy, 2027 or later looks likely.

Also, you know the saying, a bird in the hand is worth more than two in the bush. I really love my WB100 WW, and I don't know where I'll be several years from now, so I'm happy to have the one I have, instead of hopeful for the one that may be here years from now.

I'd say it's pretty likely given that the WB100 figure was sort of their test subject on rooted hair. I'm sure they'd come back with a newer sculpt that includes moveable eyes and rooted hair for an official Artisan WW.

However, InArt's whole existence was initially to bridge the gap between custom quality pieces and mass produced pieces. For instance, when it comes to customs, you're usually paying about $150-$250 (sometimes even more) just for an unpainted headsculpt, then you need to add on about $300 for quality paintwork and $300+ for quality rooted hair. So, when you compare that to the cost of a full figure with quality paint apps and rooted hair from InArt/HT Artisan for around $500, it doesn't sting so bad So, while the price increase does suck, it at least appears to be worth it when comparing to the alternative.

No no don't worry I didn't take it the wrong way. It's just the fact that you mentionned "not trying to be rude" that felt like you were kind of unnecessary upset or something
It had the opposite effect because I though "woah is he mad I don't know everything ?"
I'm also french so...english is not my first language.

Anyway, no problem at all. We can move on.

As for customs...yes but people doing customs don't mass produce their figures. Most of the times they are alone or a really small group. They don't have the same ressources like big companies like HT. Customs are not even expensive because of the quality (because customs can be bad, or at least not that great. And in that case less people will buy it, but it's not really less expensive when "advertised" by the creator.) It's more about the rarity. This person is the only one doing a custom of this character, and for him it's expensive and a lot of work, so we have to pay the price.

So while it's good to have a company "bridge the gap" and produce better quality products at a lower price, it doesn't really make sense for big companies like Hot Toys to increase their prices (well...apart from making more money by exploiting a niche market already ready to pay more for customs. It always makes sense financialy to increase prices but...you know what I mean.) It's not that expensive for them to do that. And they chose themselves to make it rare. They know the WW figures are popular, they could have made more of them.

It doesn't "feel" justified, that's what I mean. For HT it probably just cost them 30$ per figure to make better rooted hair. It's probably more work, and the material is probably more expensive, but they didn't make ONE figure, they made 1500 figures, so they bought a ton of sheeps wool and reduced costs.
Also they didn't make the figure from scratch. They already had the body, the armor, the accessories. This WB100 probably cost less to make than a brand new figure like Ashoka. But because the alternative is expensive customs or the hypothetical Inart (that will cost a lot too), then why not make it super expensive ?...

I decided to restyle WW's hair to make it more film accurate. Soaked it in water and applied some styling gel. Way less voluminous now!
