Hot Toys, you’re going to put yourself out of business! You’re going to keep raising your prices to the point no one’s going to be able to afford them and then no store is going to carry them; as it is you’ve already got competition that makes figures just as good, if not better for far less. You’d better wake up and check yourself.

sick of seeing these threads yes they have great fig yes they suck at release dates prices and making the same thing over again with different paint jobs etc...
they wont change as they dont listen better get used to it

If you're talking about EB, you clearly haven't browsed the MIB and Rambo threads in the last three months. HT doesn't have much to worry about; for every customer it loses on a release by some other company, it gains at least two more. Their fanbase is massive and every day, new fans that missed the train on older figures are willing to pony up hundreds for the upgraded versions (just as long as they can say they're still cheaper than the originals, which for certain characters, gives HT a lot of room to play with price).

Do staff from HT visit this forum? I doubt it.
Would they care even if they did? Probably not.
Do people from SS see these threads? Probably.
Will anything be done? Of course not. :gah:

Hot toys you are making it too easy for me to walk away from this silly hobby with your silly silly prices !!!

But you guys are forgetting something, they wouldn't charge the prices if they could not get away with it...

The hobby might bottom out but I think it wont be for a few years.

The only thing that's going to fail miserably is 1/4

lol, people can complain over on HT FB Page and they don't really care. Bottom line is their turning a profit and in business that is the only thing that matters.

So what would happen if the market bottomed out? Would that affect other manufacturers (ie. Hasbro, DCD)? I am sure Companies like Sideshow, who think they produce Hot Toys level toys and are jumping on the bandwagon thinking that we have bottomless pockets, would most likely feel the ground fall out beneath there feet as well. The problem is they have set there prices too high and there is no sign of stopping. I really can't see them lowering there prices, but if they did I would be a good indicator that bubble has burst and there sales down because nobody can afford or are tired of paying for there there overpriced products.

No, HT will price themselves out of the market and collapse. If they can restructure in time, they might surive, but they'll likely go under. Sideshow will be just fine. They are still quite a bit behind HT's insane prices and won't hit the same fate. Hasbro and DCC are a completely different kind of company and probably don't even know what HT is because they don't compeat in the slightest.

HT should take note of Hasbro and Walmart though, they sell a lot more and make a lot more money by selling things at a LOWER price and in higher numbers. HT is going to do the opposite and its not going to work.

Sideshow will also need to adjust their business model if they want to survive the inevitable market bubble burst unscathed. I can't understand why so many people here think it's just Hot Toys.

Some people on the HT yes crew think nothing is wrong now, but give it another year when the regular retail of any figure is no lower than $300 and up; even then they're going to wise up.

The upside is that they might actually regain some cred as collectibles.
That's actually a fair point, though they'll have to cut down on the 5-10,000+ edition sizes they seem to be pumping out.

But you guys are forgetting something, they wouldn't charge the prices if they could not get away with it...
True dat. We're all great at being amateur business analysts, but Hot Toys has the data. They're maximizing profit at the moment. Complain all you want. . .

They will stop when we jokers stop paying it.

Sideshow will be just fine. They are still quite a bit behind HT's insane prices and won't hit the same fate.

And to be completely honest, you're getting more bang for your buck, quality-wise, with Wolvie at $235 than you are with Snake Eyes at $200.

Hot toys make the best 1:6 figures period, there really no arguing this, there stuff is really f-ing awesome and have spoiled the collectors so bad that this forum is domanated but just about everything HT from the figures threads to which one should I get threads, to why this and that and so on. Things are getting worst though in the world economy and things are changing with the fact that some hot toys figures staying on store shelfs for nearly a year(just look at sideshow toys website) even exclusives. People still want what they make just can't afford as much as they used to or at all. There is a real threat of hot toys imploding do to such high prices in an economy like this, I know first hand as I used to work at a very high end very big company that went out of busness in 2009 when things first turned south in the begining of the resession. The first thing to go is high end luxury and if things don't change soon this could happen to HT. I love there stuff and have alot of it but don't buy nearly as much as I used to due to prices. I hope they back off these outragus price hikes cause I will not pay 300+ a figure for a piece of plastic.

Dude, I'm just sitting here looking at Reeve Superman & Nicholson Joker with ZERO regrets. For me, I don't have to buy every HT release and the price helps me limit my collection to my "grails". So, the dude from Assassin's Creed, Royce, Nolan and Christian Bale John Conner figures are easy passes for me.
