no real hair for me please.
I think its pain in the A$$ and over time it deteriorates ( in its own way) worse than cheap pleather
you should the beard and hair on my Gandalf from Toybiz from all those many moons ago..

He looks like a loon hobo ( nothing against homeless crazy people )

To be fair - the Toybiz Gandalf looked horrible before he left the factory.

I think the oldest real hair figure I have is Kate Beckinsale from Van Helsing from 10 years ago. There is no deterioration - looks no different than it did new.

I'm definitely all for Rooted hair.
Some of my all time favorites on my personal collection are the ones with real hair.

But it has to be like those tibetan lamb wool hair that a lot of customizers use cause it can mimic real human hair.
I've always enjoyed going to wax museum and of course, the thing about it is how realistic the figures can look.
If the wax museums at madam tussaud's had sculpted hair, they wouldnt be as realistic.
The 1/6 collectibles have come a long way in replicating this display, such as real clothes, shoes, etc.
But one of the things that still separates it from the full scale, other than the size is hair.

When the 1/6 is done right, it really separates it with the other figures. It really adds another depth in realism.
I'm definitely all for it.

I like rooted hair if it is well done such as in the case of Avenger's Black Widow, but I think it is harder to get a realistic look. Big Chief tried rooted hair with Amy Pond and it didn't turn out very well and the non-rooted hair looked much better. So if a company is able to get a more realistic look, I'm all for it, but I don't want rooted hair if they aren't able to execute.

I like real hair if it's done right and with quality materials. However if the hair won't interfere with articulation (short or sculpted away from the body) then I'd prefer sculpted.

Long hair really depends on how well executed it.

Longer custom hair/wigs can be phenomenal, but mass-producing anything with style seems to be difficult.

HT's Alien Ripley will be a real test for the realistic 1:6 market.

I was about to type the exact same thing -- verbatim actually on the first sentence, so I'll just quote ya :)

If its done well, rooted hair makes a nicer display for sure.

The technique still needs to be pushed further. As it currently stands, its a real hit and miss.

I really didn't like the one applied on HT's Selina Kyle. It was a pain in the ass to comb to perfectition, and if it didn't have the mask, it would have looked terrible.

Sarah Connor and Black Widow did it ok, and as far as i can tell (cause i don't own it) Baby Doll looked good as well. EB's rooted hair doll was atroucious.

I'm a little surprised that "real hair but not beards" is winning. You mean you'd not want Gandalf or Dumbledore to have real beards? We're not talking about Stark's goatee here.

Please no. Dear god.

Sculpted hair is fine, leave the barbie factor away from my figures please.

What's next? Gel?

If the real hair is done well then 100% real hair

Don't need to beat a dead horse here but it adds to the realism if done well, maybe we aren't at a stage yet were real hair is widely well done instead of the few talented artists that do it, but it is the way forward

Most people want realism, at least that's what you read from a lot of collectors. If you can replicate it well with real hair then that surely has to be the next step in progression

I'd like to think there was a time at some stage in the life cycle of action figures where the idea of using real clothes on figures was ridiculous and scoffed at by the majority

Only two people can see the future???? Insanity.

I remember long ago when people were afraid real zippers would ruin a figure because they couldn't imagine small ones. Or afraid of real "leather" shoes and boots because they wouldn't wrinkle right. Or afraid of moveable eyes. There will always be examples of bad work in new areas -- like PERS -- but there's plenty of examples of bad work within the limits people wish to remain in too.

I say bring on the real hair and let's see.

Problem with real hair is that once it's messed up, it'll take a ton of work just to get it right again. Plus some of these custom joker sculpts with real hair just look un-natural.

As another poster mentioned, it has to be of the Tibetan lamb fur variety, like Elvis1976 uses, as it most closely replicates hair at 1/6 scale. That's the biggest issue to me, is does it scale correctly and look convincing?
For example, look at 1/6 military figure hiking boots: sure, there are fabric versions that replicate the real ones, but at this scale, with all the layers and material types, they look like a sock with the details printed on it pulled over a boot. Sculpted ones, well painted, capture the shape and details better.
