I'm sure you used quality lights and I don't disagree with what you are saying.

I'm certainly not going to build giant boxes to diffuse the light but I am going to see if many more lights can create a more even effect.

I build a small box (25mm deep) behind my deathstar wall. Placed an LED strip around the perimeter facing inward. I also covered the rear inside of the box with chrome duct tape to help reflect the light and a sheet of vellum on the front to diffuse the light.

Would love to see pics, Natedog. That is sort of how the first one Jazz designed is--it was offered by Plastica and has a more even lighting. Wall takes up about an inch of space. The lights face down and inward and there are two circles that go all the way around the openings. Not perfect but I prefer this diffused look as well. I'm in a bit of a bind as to which version to keep to be honest.

In the new set, what are those squiggly lines, the glue or just the light strips themselves?

I'm in the process of doing the same. I am hoping to find a box that will work instead of building one. It seems that 1 1/2 - 2 inches is plenty of depth to diffuse the light.

My custom lighting is almost complete. I need to raise the lights up about half an inch and block out the light that's sneaking through the middle.

Last pic it's finished...I had plenty of room so my added depth is about 4 inches but I believe 1 to 2 inches would work just as well.

I wish I could afford an entire Death Star room...one day!

Yes it looks fantastic.

Will it be possible to place these side by side for a longer corridor? I'd be in for a pair if I can afford it but it sounds like this one is going to be more expensive.

I know detolfs are very popular but to me they usually feel cramped. The ceilings in the movie on these appear to be at least 10ft high which translates to around 20" in 1/6.

I think this may be a case where a bigger diorama is called for, although I know you are responding to people's requests for detolf sized projects.

Just my 2 cents, but I think there were a few others hoping for a bigger version of this one.

This one would go top shelf!

Jazz, you know what you are slowly working toward, right? Your man cave to be made to look like a 1:1 Deathstar hallway!

You can do it......!
thanks. Stupid people at City Hall said it would be too large for a building permit ....

You should be able to place them side-by-side. I did get a few questions about a larger version, but from my experience there are two problems with that. The first is money, the second space. I had a hard time selling out the final batch of the very large diorama I sold in the beginning of this adventure. It was hard to find people who have both the space and the money they were willing to spend on this. It seems the magic number should be below $300 so it's never more than an expensive figure you're spending on the diorama so that is what I am aiming for. The. I try to squeeze as many features out of that 'budget'

I understand and I will probably be in for 2 units if you can keep them to $300... but I am worried about the ceiling being too low.

Thanks. My target is just below $300 if I can

Sorry Jazz, I know you probably answered this somewhere but I cannot find the answer.

Are you selling the throne room back only without the throne? And for how much.

Thanks!
