If a lot of you cancel this when they announce that the ES is 1000 or higher hoping to get if for $600 down the road, you will be in line for some serious disappointment.

I disagree. When Sideshow gets stuck with them they will open them to dealers after Second Chance and Gift Cards don't seem to move them. After dealers then come ebay deals.

Yo Loki!

How do you know they got only one? Especially when the ES has yet to be determined?

I havent been listenin' to the podcasts

Also, on an unrelated topic - quick question......(Didnt want to start a new thread for a quick yes/no)

Are the SW PF exclusives numbered to match the stautue, numbered at all?

Took!
Ome dealer said it here. Also the dealer I ordered fom said I should order from SS to so I am covered in case he can't fullfil my order.

I dont understand the number question totally but yes they are numbered.

Thanks Mfoga!

As for the number question, If I had PF Vader EX, #1234, would the droid also have 1234 on it? Or could you sell it, and turn a reg into a EX?

Thanks

TOOK

You could have the exclusive item but you could still tell. The edition size part of the number would be wrong and the box would be missing the Exclusive sticker

I agree. Look in the background of this pic. That's the future of the Speeder if the ES is too high.

You guys are really missing a key component here. The fact that dealers only got 1 each will kill any chance of finding this cheaper on the secondary market.

Most reasons regular versions can be found so cheap is because dealers have several hundred that they've gotten for 35-40% cheaper and can afford to sell well below retail. I can assure you all dealers that had 1 for sale, sold it in about 5 seconds. For someone to get this and resell it, they'd have to get it direct from SS. No one in their right mind is going to buy an $800 statue and sell it for $600 (not to mention how much it's going to cost to ship). I'd be amazed if all of the ones that end up on eBay didn't have very high reserves driving the price of these up.
The flaw in your logic is that you assume that everyone who sells on the secondary market makes a profit (or at least hopes to). And that is simply not the case. I paid $140 for a Luke Skywalker Exclusive PF on eBay last year. At that time, that was about the average selling price for that piece, so there is no way the seller could have been expecting to make a profit. They were just trying to cut their losses and make some funds available for something else.

The simple fact is that, if the ES for any piece is too high, it will be available for lower-than-retail prices on eBay soon after it begins shipping. It has happened countless times before, and I can't understand how so many people fail to see that.

Ok tell me this then why would someone keep a pre-order if they plan to sell shortly after getting it. Most of the sales shortly after release are dealers of some kind. Those people are not buying these to lose money. Yes older items can be found cheaped since collectors are making room for other items , need money etc.. and have take what they can get but for a person to buy this to sell for less shortly after is just plain stupid. I love how everyone still assumes this will have a high ES. I think this is a false hope by those who dont want to pay the price for this.

Maybe we should clarify the meaning of "soon after". When I say that, I don't necessarily mean within a month of the initial shipping date, although that is a remote possibility. It may take six months, or even a year. But to me, that is irrelevant. If the ES for this piece is too high, I know I will be able to buy one later at a bargain price, just as I did with Luke (and several other exclusive pieces that were overproduced).

My point was that many people keep saying that without dealers selling at discounts, no bargain prices will ever be found. That statement is patently false, because I own several exclusive pieces that I bought at bargain prices.

[edited to add]
Just out of curiosity, is the Boba Fett Exclusive PF already considered an "older" piece? Because it is selling right now on eBay for less than retail.

This happens often but Luke Ex. is a poor piece and we are talkin about a
" Scout Trooper with Speed Bike"
which is the coolest PF so far and its ending to be the lowest ES of all:eek:

Whether or not it is the coolest is subjective, but it is the largest, and the most expensive (by far) of the Star Wars PFs.

However, unless I missed something, the ES is not yet known, so we don't have any idea whether it will be the lowest ES of all.

There's no Ex. and Dealers get only 1.
It was sold out after 9 hours and price is about 800 $.
So what do you think how many Scouts being sold?

I still say the ES will be 1000. It's too perfect a number. With no exclusive version it will be by far the most limited of all the SW PF's.

It will be, it will be

WW :lsvader

The edition size is "high" , which is why everyone should cancel now. Then again, what is considered "high"?

I find it interesting how many of us want this thing to be a low ES. It is expensive and it is such a cool item that pretty much everyone is rooting for this thing to be collectible and be the cherry on the top to an awesome item.

I have never seen anything like this before. Just an observation.

When you look at combined totals for both exclusive and regular editions, they could make 2000 Speeder Bikes and it would still have the lowest total production run yet in the PF line.

Total numbers so far:

Luke: 3000
Han: 2750
Vader: 4500
Obi-Wan: 3500
Grievous: 4000
Leia: 2250
Luke & Yoda: 2300
Fett: 4000
Maul: 2999
Speeder Bike & Scout: ????

Even at $800, a 500 piece edition size doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the numbers on that list.

I think it will be 1000 or more. It is SW after all. :D

Nice figures Tom, Thanks.

What can I say? I wouldn't mind if this piece got an ES of only 250... What else could "strictly limited" mean? I know SSC has been hype-ing some of their products with an ES of 1000 or even 2000 as "low" or "very low" edition sizes... But, if THAT is low, what do you call an ES of 50, 100, or 179? Hmmm... after reconsidering the term "strictly limited", 5000 would also qualify, right? 5000 is 5000, no more, no less. Strictly 5000.
