So many old people, EEEEEEWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!
I was in my early 20's when I got my first NES. Super Mario 3 just came out. 89-90ish??
33 and my first system was a colecovision. I then had a Sega Master System and eventually a NES. From there I had the Gameboy and then SNES. Never owned a Genesis or Sega CD. I had a Turbo Graphx 16 and 3D0. I've had every system then since. I feel like I've grown up with the industry.
First console I bought for myself was the N64. It's crazy how far we've advanced since then

My post was about people who are currently in the early twenties. Folks born in 1990 and whatnot talking about the good ol' days of the NES. It's possible that they got started at a very young age, but even if that's the case, it seems a bit unlikely to me that the NES would've been their first real console. I'm sure a few kids got NES hand-me-downs but still...
Sounds awesome. I had an Atari first then my dad bought "us" a colecovision. Later my parents got a NES for my birthday, and then my brother got a Master System for his birthday which is a month after mine. After that I bought pretty much everything that Nintendo and Sega put out. I wanted a 3DO, but it was too expensive at the time and when I finally saved enough money to get one I think the Sega Saturn was coming out so I bought that instead.
I think the N64 with Mario Kart and Goldeneye were some of the best gaming memories I had with my brother and my friends. The Xbox brought us Halo and the system link connectivity, and I remember having all of our friends bringing their systems, TVs, and we'd have 16 of us in the living room hooked up and having a blast.
I just wonder... how did we manage to play split-screen multiplayer on those tiiiiiiiiny CRTs?
Sat super close.
Indeed the N64 was great! Goldeneye, Ocarina of Time, Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64.

Myself, I started with the Atari 2600. Enduro, River Raid, Asteroids, Solar Fox, Defender, Pitfall... wow, those were great games.
