I'm 31 and while I love this hobby I sort of can't believe I'm still so into "toys." Whatever, I have to go dust my PF collection now, lol.

I am old enough to remember -

-The birth of the Walkman, the Discman, and the first mp3 players...
I can remember the change over from mono to stereo records!

-Forget about Bluray vs HD-DVD, I remember VHS vs Betamax and I also remember the birth of DVD.
I remember watching stuff on commercial VHS players at school and wishing they would make something like that for home use!

-Remote controls had cords on them!
Remote control was whoever was closest to the TV to change the channel!

-I remember taping Vinyl records onto cassettes to play in the car. Then came the birth of the compact disc, then the recordable compact disc.
I used to record horror movies onto reel-to-reel tape using a microphone placed next to the TV speaker!

-Everything was cooked on the stove, I remember the microwave coming in.
I paid more for my mother's first microwave (a Christmas gift) than I paid for my xBox 360... by a lot!

-There was no such thing as home computer gaming, you had to go to the corner store to play the arcade cabinet. I saw Space invaders launch !
I played pinball machines that were leveled correctly and didn't tilt easy!

-The first game I played at home was pong.
I still have my Pong machine, Atari 2600, Commodore 64 and a few others!

-I not only remember the first Gulf War, but also the Falkland Island War.
I remember watching nightly updates on the Evening News about the Viet Nam war.

-The choice of petrol was leaded, or leaded. Petrol stations only sold petrol and parts related to cars, most had a full time mechanic.
I remember when you were loyal to a gas station and mechanic and stations gave away free stuff all the time, pumped your gas for you, cleaned your windshield and checked the oil... all for free!

-No such thing as a mobile phone as a kid, we had to find a phone booth/box if you had to call home. But you never needed to, because it was perfectly safe and your parents never worried if you disappeared for hours on end.
I remember rotary dial phones and we had a party-line and would have to hang up and wait if someone else was on the line!

-Cars had two safety features. Brakes and seatbelts.
Yeah... I got nothing!

-Michael Jackson was cool.....................and black
Michael Jackson was the youngest member of the Jackson 5 with hits like ABC!

-There was NO internet, no facebook, no myspace, no youtube.
-You met people by going out
-No email or faxes. If you wanted to write someone you had to mail them and wait days for an answer.
And when you ordered something from the back of Famous Monsters, it didn't get here in 3 to 5 days... it took 8 weeks!!!

-Cameras used film, and had to be processed. I remember the big deal when 1 hour photo development came in.
I remember when it was a big deal to get photos back in 24 hours!

-Home theater was a Television, and if you were lucky a 2 speaker stereo, with double cassette!
Home theater was a TV console with a phonograph record on the side and a speaker in the bottom, and if you were rich, it was a color TV!

-Computer games came on cassette.....and took an hour to load
We played Monopoly and Risk and thought it was the greatest thing ever!

-No GPS.... if you needed to get somewhere you asked for directions
Real men never ask for directions... even from a GPS unit!!!

-I remember there being no shopping malls, only a main street, and corner stores that were a short walk from home.
Shopping consisting of two department stores and a hardware store downtown and a couple of discount department stores nearby.

-Watching Star Wars as a new release at the Cinema, then waiting years for the next part :)
Watching 2001: A Space Odyssey and Planet of the Apes at the theater and waiting years for them to come on TV to watch again!

You may think that reading all this that I am fairly old...... however I am only 36. It certainly shows you how much and how quickly things change. :)

I'm only 48... :D

:lol I don't know... I might look like Palpatine by then. :D

Listen guys we have nothing to worry about. I'm 29 but am I fearing my
30th, hell no. You know why, because men age like fine wine. The older we get, the better we look.
I'll admit I'm digging the ladies in their 30's but once I'm in my mid-30's I'll start dating women in their mid-20's. Younger women love mature men, so I just need to mature. Who am I kidding, that will never happen.
I'll never grow up.
