Okay, so I am presently locked out of my job because of a labor dispute between my employer and the union. I am drawing unemployment which is about 1/2 my pay. Before I even got locked out, I decided I wasn't going to buy the 1:1 scale Universal monsters busts. $595 plus shipping is waaay too pricey. Anyway, a dealer friend of mine whom I already respected a great deal (and knows my present troubles) makes me an offer of a lifetime on an Ardeth Bey if I want it. Well of course I want it...but I'd better practice restraint. Right...well, maybe not. $450, no tax, no shipping and take as long as I need to to pay for it.:monkey5 :google

Needless to say, I guess I am now collecting the 1:1 scale busts as I am scheduled to pick up Ardeth on Saturday. Just goes to show you, not everyone is in this hobby to be mean and greedy. I was very happy that he made such a generous offer. Its nice to get a little reprieve from the "I cant buy anything" blues I've had lately as well. When it comes to Universal Monsters I am such a spineless jelly fish..........but a happy one!!!:D :chew :chew

Sounds like you've got a good friend there, and whenever you look at that bust it's going to have more meaning for you because of how and when it came your way.

Strikes are hard. Lockouts are harder.

Karloff was an early organizer and founding board member of the actors union, Screen Actors Guid. He'd wish you strength of spirit during your time of trial.

Congrats Phibes! I am happy you were able to get him. Us Universal nuts have to stick together!!

Hmmm??? A 1:1 scale Phibes bust???? Wicked!!!!! :monkey5 Or even better, a 1/4 scale Phibes with a 1/4 scale pasty-white Terry-Thomas seated in a chair being drained of blood!!! :rotfl

"Gruff Old Bear", indeed. Your monicker is a misnominer.

You one upped me. I didn't know that about Karloff. Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate them. I am very happy to get Boris, and I am even happie about my friend's deal on it. Sometimes a ray of sunshine comes from where you aren't even looking for it.

I was really happy to get one too with only 100 being made. Have there been any more announcements on the Universal Monsters front in the way of busts or pfs?

As far as a Phibes bust...it took them forever to finally produce a 12" figure(which is awesome btw)...so I wouldn't hold your breath. But it would be groovy.:chew

Have I mentioned I love this dancing Chewbacca and nearly lost control of my bladder the first time I saw it. Its a classic. Conga line.:chew :chew :chew :chew :chew :chew :chew

Congrats on Ardeth Bey, Anton! Lonnie and I, too, will be picking up our Ardeth Bey busts this Saturday (uh, Lonnie, did you know about this already?). I'm excited! And to think that in this thread alone, 3% of ALL owners of this item is right here!! I'm 1% of a 100%!!! Wooooooo!!!!

I just realized I lead a sad life...

You and me both! I'm going to have to move my car seats all the way forward to make room in my back seat for this behemoth of a box! But I've got a spot all picked out for Mr. Bey, and I am SO excited! :wave

You didn't think my title (1/4 Scale Premium Freak) was just for show did you??? :rotfl :chew

Guys, what's the status on this thing? I haven't gotten a shipping notice or any kind of email about it in a while...

Ardeth is mine!!!!!!!!!

He is now at home where he belongs. Only 100 exist, and I own one (#19) and a friend of mine who lives about 50 miles away owns one also (#10). I bet these will be much sought after by Universal Junkies the world over. I cannot believe my procrastination and hesitation and being a victim of the new global economy b.s. nearly cost me this fantastic piece...BUT I WIN!!!! HE IS MINE!!!!!
WOOKIE CONGA LINE NOW, DARN IT!!!!:chew :chew :chew :chew :chew :chew
