Yeah, the ankles are a bit loose, so it kept tipping over.

This pose also caught my attention in your first pic. I pose a lot of my figures with the stands this way - some of them won't stay up otherwise. Very nice set up overall.

Pix will be up asap. Here's your chance to ask for any specific pictures you would like to see.
I'm kinda skeptical that the dog-alien can do any good poses except for the same ol' "on-all-fours" one - the PR shots already show it looks terrible on two legs. I'm thinking this is gonna be like a facehugged Kane - very limited in choices of pose. Having said that I'd like to see a pic of it mauling a human.

Can't wait to see more pics of the Dragon. Hopefully, someone can get him in some more dynamic poses, as that's my only real concern over it. I think that's why it's my favorite design of the Aliens is the fact that on all fours, it could look so menacing with the proper position.

Guess what arrived today? Yup..."The Dragon"!!!!
School starts tomorrow, so I didn't get a chance to open the package yet......much less take pictures.

I hope not to disappoint. Pix will be up asap. Here's your chance to ask for any specific pictures you would like to see.
In the meantime, here are some pix of my X-mas hauls.

Facebox, those dios are incredible man!!!
I almost feel like getting them myself.

Took some pix earlier, but I'm off to class now. Should be back within the next 2 hours.
I will post the pix then. And answer the questions to some of the concerns I've read (and had myself)

And don't worry...I got you covered with the dynamic poses. ;)

And thanks for the props guys. Much appreciated. :)

1st off...the packaging.
It's basically what we've come to know and love.

2nd...the articulation in the legs.
(I forgot to do the same for the arms)

As mentioned before, this thing if fully covered in the soft rubber that Hot Toys uses for all of their alien torsos. There are some "hard spots", but I'll discuss that later.

Neutral position: (right out of the box)

This is the maximum it can bend:

Right away I noticed the change. It has a ratcheting action!
The closest thing I can think of to compare it to is the rubber barbie legs. (I have sisters) So, I don't think that you'll have problems with the legs holding any position.

The maximum it can stretch:

It can probably be stretched out a little bit more, but I didn't want to break it.
Another note here is that the leg is a M@!#$% to get on! I really had to force this one more than any other Alien. However, you shouldn't be deterred. This is REALLY the best alien figure Hot Toys has ever made! They really tried to redesign/re-engineer how they go about making these!

Like the Aliens Warrior, and Predalien...the Dog Alien also comes with 2 pairs of hands.
(bendy and rigid)
On to those "hard spots" I mentioned earlier:

Notice those shiny/ lighter colored spots on the arms, collars, and on the tubes alongside the dome?
They are made of transparent hard plastic. Nice!

Range of motion:

If I had to give it a score from 1-10... an 8 would be a fair score IMO.
The main issue here is that Hot Toys sculpted the creature in an upright position. So it really has an awkward feel to it once it's on all fours. -1 for that.
Another issue is, unlike the ALIENS Warrior, the limbs have an unnatural limit to them.
What I mean by this is, it would have been cool if the calves where able to come in contact (well....more into contact) with the thighs. That sure would have made the figure look more natural as a quadruped.

I was really hoping to get it to look something like the following pic., but sadly it doesn't look like it's gonna happen.

Lemme go try again.

EDIT:
I stand corrected. Looks like it's got worms though. :lol

Thanks for the pics Facebox. I'm a big fan of the dog alien but like everyone on the forum I have my uncertainties about poseability of this puppy.

One thing I can agree with you is the clear plastic parts on the arms, shoulder and the head, it's a nice touch!!

Can this figure stay in pose like the Halcyon model and the sideshow statue? If it has not problem doing those kind of poses I don't mind getting this.

Alien is taking a poop :monkey3

Nice review, Facebox but shame about the lack of decent poseabilty as I suspected. Can you get it to pose like the McF 7" or so its body is closer to the ground?I'm glad to see they didnt do the ball joints on the ankles this time like the blue Aliens Warrior.

Halocyon:
It needs a base/stand.

those pics make me wanna buy it in all honesty. i can see the inaccuracies but it just looks too darn cool to pass on.

It is cool! If I didn't think so, I wouldn't have bought it.
If you can get passed the inaccuracies, it's badass! :rock

LOL, that's exactly what my girl said when she saw me posing it.

This is as low as it will go:

Anything lower, and it looks like it's doing yoga.
