Just ordered both as soon as they became available for preorder from sideshow. I figure sideshow has treated me so well so far, I should support them every way I can. And the $150 per is not too bad or far off from other sources and SS is so much closer for shipping purposes.

I am extremely new to this side of collecting, however I hope that everyone is pleased with the "head sculpts" as shown in the images on the SS site. I think Dallas is pretty spot on for me, and Kane is a bit turned away, so time will tell.

What do you people think???

Andrew

Welcome Andrew! And great purchase!

I think Dallas is dead-on. I'm very excited to see that HT got the likeness rights, as that was a bit of a worry. Kane's sculpt is questionable from the pic, but I'm gonna pose him with that facehugger anyway. It's too cool not to use.

It's hard to tell if the cap over the headsculpt is cloth or sculpted...but I hope it's material. If the helmet's don't open then I guess it doesn't really matter...unless you need a repaint.

And for those debating on saving a few dollars with another source:

Don't forget the ever important "points" you accumulate if ordered through SS. Order both and get 300 points = $15 off in the future. Plus you can deal with SS, a proven company in collecting.

I had a delivery problem with my first Alien dio, and my Alien3 dio was broken. Both of these issues were dealt with in the quickest and most professional manner by SS.

Thanks, but I think most people around here are well aware of Sideshow's points. The problem is that a 5% discount that's only applicable to a future purchase doesn't match a straight 10% off the purchase price, which is usually what you get from resellers. I generally only buy things from Sideshow that are exclusive to them. I've gotten very good service from a number of resellers, so I'm not concerned about that either.

Cool, cool...

I'm just super excited about my first purchases in the Hot Toys line. Alien has long been my #1 film and after picking up lots of Palisades stuff for so long and then the new SS dios, I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of these new figures. Like a kid on Christmas morning!

And I will have everything they create for the original.

And maybe the queen too. (No, don't get carried away)

That is an unknown. It seems to me that the space helmet wont be removeable, possible due to the electronics. Probably only a drop down visor. I doubt Hot Toys will elaborate, as it may cause cancellations if were only a articulated visor. I assume this because Kane has a swap over head with face hugger attached. We really may not know till they ship them out, and a collector is able to confirm one way or the other.

From a marketing standpoint I'm guessing that the head coverings will be removable. That way Hot Toys won't have to come up with a new headsculpt in case these sell well and they decide to release them in their Nostromo outfits. :D

I came... I looked... I was had :monkey5:monkey5. When I first started reading this thread it was just a look see. Now I'm hooked. Hot Toys has done some fine work. I have several of their figures. The workmanship has always been top drawer. The Superman series is out standing. From what I can see from the various photos I've seen, these may be their best. I'm in for a pair.

I don't think they would have to actually come up with a new head sculpt if they wanted to do that. It's pretty easy to re-use the face portion and sculpt a head of hair on it. They might have even started with a full head sculpt and then modified it for use with the head coverings. Just looking at the figure, it doesn't seem likely that the head coverings are removable, and as has been mentioned, it may be that the helmets aren't even removable.

Originally I was only going to buy Kane but Dallas's head sculpt turned out so great that I also have to have him.
I preordered both from Sideshow even though I know I'll only be able to afford one.

Looks to me like the caps are sculpted. I wish they had unhelmeted pics up, I can't imagine that the helmets aren't removeable.

Ordered both at DSC.
Dallas' headsculpt sold it for me. I have a feeling HT might not have gotten rights from John Hurt to do his likeness, hence the turned-away tilt to the head...

Yeah, Kane doesn't really look like the Kane I remember from that angle, but who knows? Besides, isn't everyone going to display Kane with his little friend?

Something's attached itself to his face.

We have to g-g-get him inside.

add me to the list. just ordered both from AmazingToys/csc. just a few $$ cheaper than alterego. shipping is less. but don't order unless you're definetly going to get it.:chew

One other minor point in the Kane set is that the sculpt they've shown with the hugger attached (palisades or not) is inaccurate since with the suit on (hugger attached or not) he'd still have the snoopy cap on and not much of "Kane" would be visible. One has to hope that they'll be doing another sculpt for this too!!!
