Arrived yesterday, in-hand today (UPS sent to my old apartment)...
DALLAS ROCKS!
Quick picks straight from the box, not much to futz here:
I'm contemplating this pose to show off the headsculpt better, for a little while anyway.
The lights worked great right out of the box, then the helmet lights went out after fiddling with that damn helmet. Had to unscrew the plate and clean the corrosion off the batteries. Now it's fine again.
The head does sit low. BUT I find that it isn't the neck brace that keeps his head low, it's the "rubber" material in the back of the helmet that pushes against the sculpt and keeps it tilted forward, thus looking low.
I also found that if you move the shoulder straps that hold the chest box -- those clamps on the strap -- just pull them tight and get them out from under the neck pad section, the helmet will sit a bit lower. Then of course you still have that rubber pad back there to deal with. I couldn't really solve the issue.
I still have to tinker around with him a bit. But the detail is amazing. The belt and straps and their corresponding clamps and buckles are all terrific, some even so hidden you have to really look to see the detail. The sculpt's great as we all know. The paint apps really are well done.
So cool to finally have an ALIEN figure!
I also took Anthrapoid's advice and removed the hard wire from the helmet's main tube. It's easy, and makes life posing a lot easier that bending that damn thing. The wire's a bit rusted too -- probably from shipping overseas -- so it's best to get it out of there so it doesn't corrode the rubber over time.
