the suit in the film looked like thick black crude oil...this looks like black cloth...

Although I agree with you, that the suit could use more shine, they are on the right track.

In the behind the scenes look at the costume it was in fact made the same way out of the same material as the red and blue costume. The only difference in the process, and this one is the biggest except for small design changes to the spider and eyes, is the fact that they silk screened the honeycomb pattern onto the material rather than print it into the fabric itself. That's what gives it the look of an oily rubber even though it's not. it's still spandex or lycra but with a plastisol pattern screen printed over it. Which gives it that shiny leathery look.

I always assumed that the costume was edited digitally or something in post production, to make it look more symbiote like..

I moved posts about Symbiote Spidey to this thread. I dig the look of the separate head, though I also like the attached head of the regular Spidey. My main complaint about it is that these two figures are going to be posed together by many collectors, and it sucks that they won't be uniform in style.

Cool. Thanks for moving my post. I had not been up here to see any updates in a while so I posted on the RB spiderman thread.

Even though the design of the all in one piece spiderman would have been more accurate, I still think the new design is not bad. I would have liked to see them the same but it gives me hope for the potential of this figure to be modified more easily. Maybe a headplay Toby head is in the works if hot toys is not including one.

I posted this on the other thread so I'm not sure if anyone moved it yet. It's a clip of the behind the scenes costume making process. It tells how the fabric is the same as re original with small modifications to the color, obviously, spider design, and lenses but most importantly the honeycomb pattern. It's plastisol that has been screen printed onto the Lycra. Ist very shiny which gives it the oily look but you can still see the fabric in between the pattern.

Obviously the digital character is a bit different. The shine is more prevalent. But when it's actually Toby or the stunt man in the suit on screen you can see the shine on the pattern but not as much as the digital character. The fabric still shows through the silk screen.

If this only comes with the webs and hands shown on the sample box it better come with a $125 price point. The red/blue came with webs, hands and base for only $135. This is the perfect figure to release the TM sculpt. I will probably pass without it.

Does the headsculpt really look like it's covered in some kind of cloth to you guys? It looks kinda plasticky to me

My theory is that it is sculpted, so that it's easier to remove whenever you want to switch to the Tobey headsculpt. I would think it would be kinda messy trying to remove a cloth covered Spidey headsculpt. I know a Tobey headsculpt isn't a sure thing yet, but that is my theory as of now

If there is no Tobey headsculpt, then they should make the headsculpt match the look of the suit better, or make the suit match the look of the headsculpt better. But if it was released as is, I think I'll still like it

I think the head is covered in fabric. As others have said, you can clearly see the seam at the chin.

If it comes with a Toby head (which, as toylion said, there is no evidence of) I would expect the heads to be magnetic like the DX02. Just an easy lift and replace. If they did that, I might consider buying.

This is precisely my problem. Even if they can make the separate head look decent, it will look different. And I had every intention of posing them side-by-side. If I can't do that, I wont buy it.

That sucks. Sorry you won't enjoy this figure as much as I will. I'm getting it cause it will be the best Symbiote spiderman figure to date. Weather the head and neck are all one piece, or separate, or if it comes with an extra reveal head or not. I love the character and I would buy it as is. I hope they improve it cause I want it to be the best HT can make but I'm getting it no matter what.

Just need a pre order date. PLEASE!

everything looks the same to me except the color . I can't imagine they wouldn't use the same sculpt as the first one.

The mask does not appear to be attached to the rest of the costume in the way that the first one is.

The spider symbol is different but other that that and the color that's all that should be different. Unless they can come up with a better way to make the honeycomb pattern shiny there is not much more they need to do with this. What's the hold up?

With the head being seperate he should have more of a pronounced chin I would imagine. With the red/blue suit you have to push the suit in under his chin every time you repose him to fix the turkey neck.
