Do we know for sure if the helmet lights up? Or is that just a guess based on the photos?

Guess, but i'd say a safe one since there's and image specifically highlighting the helmet with red there and in all the other pics there is no red.

lol i can't believe some deny that the helmet is a bit inaccurate. it's like the Clone Trooper helmet discussion all over again

Holy ^^^^ I think I stepped out for like 2 hours and this thread has gone to holy war and back already! :lol

Just messin.

The helmet DOES have the bulletholes/dents on the mask in the movie near the ending. That is 100% movie accurate. This whole figure is movie accurate.

So does the overly camo face + blond highlighted hair = No Sonny Landham likeness rights?

FIG-KAI-0511_03.jpg

It's not a bad likeness, more of an idealised portrait I'd say

at least they didn't sculpt him like he looks now

Oh I know.. the sculpt is spot on. I was saying HT usually does weird stuff with paint (like overtly painting stuff wrong) to avoid likeness issues. Like with the Aliens line. Once you strip away that and repaint you can really see how accurate the sculpts are. Ripley and Drake are good examples of that. If you remember when HT originally showed Dutch and Billy BOTH had massive amounts of camo face paint, but you can see now Dutch's face paint has dramatically been reduced to really show off the sculpt. This was done AFTER it was confirmed that HT secured the likeness rights for Arnold. So I was thinking maybe that's why Billy still has all the camo.

On Wikipedia it says Sonny tried to (unsuccessfully) sue Galoob for royalties using his likeness from Predator...may explain the copious amounts of slap on the HT figure...

that thigh armor looks like it moves with the leg, but there aren't any straps holding it in place like on the P2 Elder. Looks like another improvement.

smh. Again I'll never understand that. Who wouldn't want a figure/model/etc. of themselves WHILE getting paid for it!? Plus Sonny ain't doing much but getting older/fatter. Drunk ass.

I am curious about this feature that has been mentioned:
"This predator comes with special lightup feature!! The 3 RED Triangle Target eye could be lightup !! "

I presume the batteries are on the back and conceivably the two "hoses" that attach to the mask/Bio are actually wires/conductors to supply current flow to the LEDs. It makes me wonder if one conductor would be positive and the other negative. Depending on the electrical design, that MAY be a problem because of LED polarity. However, it could have protective circuitry or should have.

I have built several starship models with LEDs, incandescent lights, custom circuits, etc. I’ve been thinking about lighting the targeting system and the controls on the gauntlet for my predator model kits, but never took the time. I have even considered making a lighting kit for my 1/6 scale resin Hot Toys masks that I tried selling, but I didn’t get enough interest to pursue it.

It will be great to purchase a Hot Toys predator figure with the feature built in. I know the Cinemaquette Predator has the “light-up electronics with countdown mechanism” and I’ve thought it would be cool if that feature could be built into a future Hot Toys figure also. Would other collectors want that also or would that increase the cost of the figure too much?
:)

The helmet does have those marks in the same exact spots but they are more like superficial damage just on the surface and not structural damage gouged in, like someone has already mentioned. they overdid it

I think the Billy/Sonny HS is pretty good under the paint as well. I'm sure that the custom painters around here can really bring out Billy with the right paint apps. To be critical of the sculpt itself, it comes across to me a bit more like a younger Landham ..more like in the 48 hrs film. Something about it is a bit too smooth in the face. Otherwise, it is an excellent job by HT considering the likeness issues.

Anyone know a release date for this or when more places will have it for preorder? I just searched the bay and there are two for $165, but I have never heard of that seller.

Sorry but ^^^^^ing about wether a bullethole on a mask is slighty deeper on the figure than it is in the movie goes to far. I know we are all nerds here but let's keep some dignity please.

I don't care what any of the Nay sayers say... these figures ROCK... all of them. And I would rather HT give us a decent likeness with bad paint than a horrible likeness with good paint. So I am perfectly happy with Billy as he is. :rock
