Ok spidey is good too, but even if I like Jim lee much better SS does not like to make statues from his art. So no use in comparing. I guess hopefully someday we will get some Jim lee statues or many :) it's not only Jim lee I like, but all image style art base things. As for olivetti I'm still not a big fan of his, but I will buy some of his statues to get a certain character in my collection. I do admit some looks pretty cool for a statue and sure it will sell out etc. But if I had a choice I would much prefer the other styles. It's because that's the art I liked in the 90s.

Same here. You put most art from the 90's against some of the new styles (like Olivetti) and the 90's stuff translates better to statue form as being an iconic representation. The 90's style from a lot of those Image Comics guys are to me more enduring representations of the characters when it comes to iconic outfits, design and such. Not to mention that a lot of the 25-35 year old collector demographic buying these expensive statues can identify more with it as they were teens when the 90's comics market was booming with hype, die-cut covers and chromium gimmicks surrounding these guys artwork over substance.

Punisher and Hulk Comiquettes are perfect examples of 90's Vs. Olivetti. Great sculpts, but if you were to ask me if they are iconic representations of Hulk and Punisher then I would easily say no. I would take a Punisher War Zone Jim Lee style Punisher or a Dale Keown Hulk over Olivetti without hesitation.

Something to look out for sort of related to this point: Spidey 1:1 bust. There is talk of a new one being made. Let's see how that matches up against the current McFarlane version.

Wow! So much truth to what you just said, do we think alike! So many good artists you brought up McFarlane, Dale keown, and punisher war zone! That to me was the best looking punisher ever drawn. Spidey and venom to me was best drawn by McFarlane! And the 90s gimmick covers wow! So much good memories! :1-1: thanks for all the great memories! But again I'm not saying other art styles are bad. Everyone has their own style and he just reminded me how nice we had it in the 90s comic era. Those were the days of art for me! Not to mention all the great new comers like finch, campell, booth, Joe mad, Tony Daniel, Billy tan, and more.

I wasn't comparing the artists, I was comparing the SSC lines of both artists.I LOVE Jim Lee's artwork. I like it more than Olivetti's. However, as a line, I think SSC's Olivetti Line is the best of the bunch. IMHO, the statues are superior to any other Marvel line SSC has, even though I like Lee's artwork better. This is not a knock on Lee, SSC and Gore group have just taken Olivetti's artwork and made some AWESOME statues with it. What the Gore group did with the Venom Com was AMAZING! It's certainly far better and has much more details than the art print of Olivetti's. IMO, Olivetti + Gore group= SSC's best statues in the Marvel line. EVERY single piece made by those collaborators are GREAT statues. Besides Gambit, I'm not impressed with the Lee X-men line, even though I like Lee's artwork and the X-men are my favorite characters.

Yes I wonder if it's for real, on eBay people don't pay up a lot. I think this is more hype at this point. When it's released I don't think it will go for more then 475.00 to 500.00 if lucky. But then again if he did sell it he sold it for 600.00 when you take out the eBay and paypal fees. Lol

:slap:slap you really have no clue do you????? look at skaar, which was had a great sculpt, but has virtually no following as compared to Hulk. he's bringing more than that. Hulk will demand much more than the green version, which you hate sooooo much is already selling for more than your estimate. added that this has an ultra low ES and that he's gray, he will give many the chance to own a gray version without having to dish out $2k+ for the original version...

Hey I just don't think it will happen to this statue, but I'm really hoping you are right. I would love for this to go up to more. Im not complaining if this sells for more. I sure can use a gambit PF in my collection. :wink1:

The aftermarket value of this piece will depend on how many more variants they continue to make.

I see this settling at $800 or so in the near future. More after that for sure.

I'd like to see The Gore Group team-up with Jim Lee in the future. It would be cool if Lee did some concept art for Martin Canale. I'd love to get an art print by Lee with my statue. Canale is definately one of my favorite sculpters. I think regardless of who is doing the concept art he's going to bring his unique style to the statue. I think the only thing I didn't like about his work so far was the Green Hulk Comiquettes hair. He did let the concept art for the Green Hulk Comiquette influence the hair style for the statue. Sure, he could've told Olivetti that he was crazy with the whole Tyson hair do and all, but we all make mistakes.:lol:rotfl:rotfl

Agreed. Martin's work is just too good for words. He makes magic regardless of the art source. He makes everything better.
