I thought it was clever! People always complain that the opening shows of anything are "boring". I don't know what people expect from an episode that has to set up the entire mythos of a show!It would be like if you loved the olympic ski jump competition but you turned it off because you found the ramp portion to be boring. Without the set up THERE IS NO JUMP!

A show can set up a mythos without stagnating in its first episode, especially with the freedom HBO can give you. The Sopranos first episode included Crissy killing a czech ganster, Tone getting into a dispute with Corrado, and blowing up a resturant. Sadly, few programs are able to pull of a great first episode that sets a solid foundation while not being overly cryptic or slow. Even comedies like Curb or Arrested development have avoided slow and methodical opening episodes and still informed us of whats going on.

I caught the show, tought it was decent but didnt really keep my interest.

This show sound exactly liked Weeds! But instead of selling Weed he is selling his Junk.

I agree that HBO has some great shows but most of their greatness is gone. A lot of their new ideas arnt as good as their older shows.

Great Shows that Are gone: Sopranos, Wire, Deadwood, Carnivale, Six Feet Under, Oz, Sex and City, Rome

Newer shows that were brought on to replace the great ones...
Tell Me You Love Me, John From Cincinatti, True Blood, Big Love, Flight of the Conchords, Hung.

And then you have Curb Your Enthusiasm and Entourage that are still hanging around (both great shows)

Overall... I feel like that older shows are a lot better than some of their newer ones. (just my opinion)

watched it tonight.............i looks like it has some potential.

next weeks should be even better now that most of the intro is out of the way.

The only thing keeping me from agreeing with you is True Blood! That show really is great! Flight of the Chonchords is realllly funny as well!

Oh I agree. There are definately exceptions. I'm just pointing out that a show can have a slower start and still be good. Also, I have to admit I enjoyed the first show. Thought the writting was pretty clever!

Definetly true...

Finally watched the replay. I'm pretty sure this show is the offspring of Californication and Weeds. I liked it plenty, but wasn't that impressed.

just watched this and liked it

I bet that was his ex-wife and changed her mind when she saw him through the peep hole

she must have huge ^^^^ withdrawal symptom :lol
Never thought of that, though it seems likely since she seems to be with her current husband just for the money.

maybe cause of 4th july weekend they though people would miss it so air a rerun instead
That's what I thought, all the people returning from out of town or recovering from hangovers would miss it.

Plus, Entourage premiers this Sunday, so maybe they wanted to save those two episodes to make it an awesome Sunday! :rock
