Re: I Am Legend

This wasn't like the Omega Man were the Zombie Vampires were intelligent and talked and we saw them plot and plan. This was Will Smith alone and he held his own.

Well, the zombies did plan the same trap Neville used to trap them. I would consider that "planning"

Re: I Am Legend

PLUS, who saw the batman/superman poster :rock:rock

I know I am being knit-picky but were are my comic book bretheran in this thread. The poster was for Superman/Batman not Batman/Superman.

Calling it Batman/Superman may seem insignificant but that is not the name of the comic.

Oh, did anyone else notice the Teen Titans poster in the video store?

I missed all these little things....that's why I've got to see it again. I tend to focus so much on the characters that I miss the scenery....then the second time I'm able to let my eyes wander more and catch all the little things I originally missed.

That is true but you get what I mean, the group seemed like a cult like the infected humans in Beneath the Planet of the Apes. Showing the other side made it feel like Charleton Heston was not altogether alone, he may be the last human but not the last man.
The Omega Man and I Am Legend just had a different feel I guess is what I am saying. Everything was from Smith's POV yet we got to see the camp of the Zombies in the Omega Man and hear them plot against Heston.

Next time you see it watch the posters in Times Square, Superman/Batman should be on the right side as Smith starts to walk to that side in the film.

The Teen Titans poster can be seen in the front of the store on the glass behind the front counter. You can see it best when he first walks to the shelves to return the DVD. I think you can also see it when he is making eyes at the "woman" in the back of the store.

Hmm. I tried to add "SPOILER" to the thread title, but it looks like it didn't work. I don't want anything spoiled for those who haven't seen it yet.

I think that the atmosphere of deserted NYC was worth the price of admission.

Whoops, sorry. I know I kind of said more than needed. My apologies.

Re: I Am Legend

No, I think it's typical and appropriate to discuss spoilers--especially once a movie has been released or a show has aired. I just thought that people should get fair warning in the thread title and we usually have that disclaimer so they have a heads up before clicking.

It's much more fun to discuss a movie afterwards if you can actually talk about the plot, lol.

I have to agree that Smith did an admirable job of carrying the film - I think this was more difficult performance than Pursuit of Happyness. I liked the film a lot, although I'd also agree that the CG left something to be desired - it was a little too obvious with the darkseekers - I'd have preferred that they be played by humans at least a little bit.

And I only noticed the Superman/Batman billboard, not the other DCs. I was surprised they used Shrek instead of some WB Looney Tunes or something. I guess it really worked thematically so they made the effort to license it.

The closing lines from that scene in Shrek really had resonance and fit the situation and character of Neville. He has encountered normal humans for the first time in three years and he can't really handle it and wants to push them away and stay alone.

-Who you trying to keep out?
-Everyone! Okay?
-Oh, now we're gettin' somewhere.
-Oh! For the love of Pete!
-What's your problem? What you got against the whole world anyway?
-Look, I'm not the one with the problem, okay? It's the world that
seems to have a problem with me. People take one look at me and go.
"Aah! Help! Run! A big, stupid, ugly orge!" They judge me before they
even know me. That's why I'm better off alone.

Dave--How did you edit the thread title? I tried and failed...

I Am Legend was awesome, I loved every minute of it, Will Smith and the Doggy were great together. I can easily say the Will is among the higher echelon of actors and is really good at showing emotion. It broke my heart when Samantha died (all I could think of was my dog :monkey2), I really wish she couldv'e survived and gone with Ana to Vermont. It was still a great movie though and I can't wait to own it on BD!! :rock

I can't watch anything where animals get hurt. So I won't be watching this movie. Glad to see it made over 76 million though.

Seen it twice so far, once in regular theater to catch the DK trailer, and another time at IMAX, to see the DK prologue.

The question we need to ask ourselves is, how did he have clean, running water and electricity???

He seemed like a really resourceful guy, plus he was a scientist, I'm sure he figured out a way to keep himself in clean water.

You're right. He probably just figured something out. He certainly had plenty of time to think about it. lol

Freaks,

I was really impressed by Big Will in this film. I, like most of us, grew up with the story by Richard Matheson based on our love for a flick called "The Omega Man". When I heard WIll was doing it, I was a bit nervous, but his take on Robert Neville was very good, a bit sad and a bit scary.

I mean, Heston playing chess with himself is one thing I always dug. Will memorizing Shrek was a bit less memorable than Heston's Woodstock recital, but I think I finally gained respect for Will as an actor due to this film.
