I have had this Gateway laptop for quite a while. I loved it so much that I have steadfastly refused to replace it.

Recently...I found it necessary to upgrade from Windows XP to Vista (yes I know...but I liked XP, and the only reason I upgraded was to transition to 7). I only had a Dell copy from my wife's computer so I installed it. After 30 days half of the features got disabled due to the copy being Dell and not Gateway.

Today, I found my Gateway copy and re-installed the whole software kit.

It is like having a new computer.

Yes, I realize how trivial this thread is...but I felt a desire to share, anyway. Feel free to flame, ridicule, and in other ways have fun at my expense.

Trendy toys is all Apple makes.

This was completely my thought as well.

But Vista is so old that I spent the entire day downloading and installing updates. The first crop of updates was 103 of them. Each time I finished a download/install, I would get a message that more were available. Other than one set of 103 of them and one set of 54 and one set of 24...they all came 1 to 4 at a time.

I do mean ALL DAY. There were well over 200 updates and I wouldn't be surprised if it was close to 300.

I am pretty stoked, though at the way my computer is running. I was so happy that I re-did the house desktop the same way. That one still has a handful of updates to get.

I was actually surprised to see that what I thought was some of that oh-so-rare screen burn on a LCD monitor has disappeared as well.

the funny part is, 95% of threads with similar titles indeed are "I bought a Mac" threads .... :lol

Statements like this are only made by people who don't know a damn thing about computers, people whose job depend on Windows, and trolls.

I purchased a Macbook Pro about a year ago, after coming from a PC, and I'm so glad I made the switch. I absolutely love it and can't recommend it enough. The prices may be high, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. Everything I wanted and then some.

Question: If I had Vista (came with the PC...no OS disc) and I upgraded to a, ahem, non-genuine version of 7 Ultimate how do I get Vista back so I can buy the upgrade to 7 rather than buying a new 7 version (upgrade version is cheaper)?
