I have my picks up for best/worst of 2008...and Poppies Results too!

There's a link on the main page to my picks for Best and Worst of 2008! I'm going to post the Poppies and People's Picks this week as well, with both my own commentary and some comments from the judges as well. You can find the link off the main page, or just head over here:

And now the Poppies are up too!

I have to agree with most of your picks. For me, I have Dallas and Joker switched for the number one and two spots in the 12" category.

It's kind of weird to not see Sideshow in the top three companies, but again I agree with your picks. No doubt about HT.

And how is Shocker Toys still in business?

No Thor for best statue? I'm sure you will be hearing grief from the resident marvel fans. I agree with Indy as tops, but Thor should have at least had a bronze...

2008 truly was the year of Hot Toys. They dominated everyone. Awesome to see them get all three of the best 1/6th male figures.

Well I mean it's not like he had to pick Thor. It just kinda confuses me that he thinks the best marvel statue of the year is the Koto Iron Man....I saw that one at my LCS and it wasn't even Bowen quality. But different strokes and all that.

Hmmm... I wonder how SSC will fair next year with their Star Wars armored characters being released.

For the most part - this was bang on. Hurts to not see SSC in the top 3, but for this year at least. I agree with you.

I'm sure if Vader turns out as good as we all hope he will be in the running. And if Blackbeard looks as good as the prototype I see a high spot for him too.

Good read Michael.

Only thing, I thought you liked the Bruce Lee p.f. ?

I only disagree with the Indy line being the worst. It to me, was my favorite line of the year. Sure, you did have to look for a good figure, but I love all my Indy stuff, and all of them are great.

Great picks Michael! Can't disagree with you on the Millennium Falcon--my girl got me one for X-mas for $99 and it's already hanging above my desk. A great version of arguably one of the coolest ships in the Star Wars galaxy.

I have both Indy PF and Aragorn PF. Can understand you picking Indy, but not even an honorable mention for Aragorn. :( Overall, I think they're dead even in quality of costuming, likeness, etc.; only thing giving it to Aragorn for me is Indy's skin tone. But not even a mention? :monkey2

Whether I disagree or agree...I always enjoy reading your articles, especially the Best & Worst.

Great read. It seems you took a few WELL-DESERVED shots at Sideshow.

Funniest part was that reference to the Red Riding Hood Barbie. That is truly a creepy 2-pack.

I tend to avoid honorable mentions, but I suppose if I do any in any categories, I outta do them in all. I'll consider that for next year.
