Of course, just because you can save money by doing something like that doesn't mean you should. If you're using their service, then you should pay for it IMO. If you don't like their prices and policies, then you should go elsewhere or go without.

My neighbor did this to my satellite receiver. I made a very public spectacle of cutting the cable down with a machete and tossed it on the hood of his car. He doesn't do it anymore.

A co-worker did that, and he ended up in court... he has to pay fines and ended up in a black list...
