Also the added inclination that Vader was lying to the Emperor about knowing Luke's identity. (states in the begining that Vader is obsessed with finding young Skywalker but when the emperor asks him about he is like "are you sure it is the son of Skywalker? I had no idea such a thing was possible). ;)

Yes, one thing I liked about Episode III was that it showed Anakin already beginning to plot to overthrow the Emperor himself. His plea to Padme to join him nicely echoes his later conversation in ESB. You just know that the wheels began turning when he discovered Luke's existence post-episode IV, and it all leads nicely into his revelation in Cloud City and genuine plea that Luke join him in overthrowing Palpatine.

I also think that the ESB carries on the vulnerability of Anakin Skywalker, it was his love for his wife that drove him to the dark side, and it was the loss of her, and to his knowledge, his child, that sealed his fate as the dark lord, so I think there is a part of Anakin beginning to come out there, and I think his desire to overthrow the Emperor to make things how he wanted was fueled by anger and suspiscion that his master lied and deceived him about Padme and the baby's fate. Granted this is all speculation stuff, but this is what Lucas meant when he said that Ep III would change people's view of Vader, you now see a tormented soul behind some of suited Vader's actions in the OT and I think that adds some nice dimension to it, instead of just being a ruthless villain, now he is a conflicted character struggling to do the right thing and making all the wrong choices.

The SE of Empire had the least work done to it. (Why mess with perfection.)

The new wampa shot was fine with me but not really needed. (I'm just glad that they didn't insert a CGI wampa.) The Cloud City shots were inconsistent and distracting. Fett's voice was fine the way it was, but I don't mind the continuity correction--besides, accents are genetic. The Vader's shuttle shot isn't needed.

But I'm glad they fixed the editing goof where Chewie is howling and the Echo Base doors close out of sync with the audio.

And I actually like seeing McDiarmid as the Emperor in the transmission.

I too love having Ian in Empire as the holograph. The original one was so inconsitant with the rest. That WAS a necessary change.

Boba's voice on the other hand... Here is what I would have done: When Jango had his helmet on, he talked like the original Boba Fett voice or at least a similar voice. When his helmet was off, he talked normal. This would give his helmet the same voice alteration as Vader. This would make sense since Boba/Jango probably want to be able to hide their idenities as much as possible. With all the clone around, surely that is a recognizable voice. What if someone though they were an AWOL clone and tried to get them back in the army?

George can always go back, fix the PT voice issue, and then go back and give the OT the original Boba voice back - it was much cooler. We get enough of Morrison's voice through the clones.

It is of my opinion that not all the stormies are clones in the OT.And i'm sure through blood tests they could know that boba was an unaltered clone and not part of the clone army.

I actually thought that the alterations in ESB SE were the most damaging of the three SE's. As you say, why mess with perfection. For everything they "fixed," they messed up two things. I won't get into all the continuity errors they created with the new wampa cave and Cloud City windows since I don't want to ruin the SE experience for you if that's what you prefer. But suffice to say I find them quite irritating.

I *do* like having McDiarmid in Empire though. I just wish they didn't mess up so many other things to get him there.

One really cool thing I noticed about ROTJ that is much more effective after knowing the events in ROTS is the conversation between Obi-Wan and Luke about Leia and the necessity to confront Vader.

Their conversation on Dagobah is almost a shot for shot echo of the conversation Obi-Wan had with Padme right before he followed her to Mustafar. In both scenes Obi-Wan is urging Anakin's relative of the need for him to be confronted and probably killed. Obi-Wan is sitting on the left side, Anakin's relative on the right. Also in both scenes someone is made aware of the existence of Anakin's offspring for the first time. A really awesome parallel.

I never picked up on that until watching ROTJ again recently. I'm continually amazed at how well ROTS gives the events of the OT (particularly ROTJ) so much greater meaning.
