I would absolutely love if Mezco got the rights to make 1/12 Star Wars Figs, especially if they do Jedi. Imagine the soft goods on that!

Mez has been pretty unreliable in terms of production and the “mezoficastion” of the DC and Marvel characters has been aesthetically so-so. Based on these factors alone, I would be a no vote on Mezco. Then character approach, endless redos, fan disengagement, Mez’s personal character selection…it’s kinda endless. Imagine that line if Mez doesn’t care for Luke or Chewbacca same as he’s said for Robin. Took 50 Batman iterations before they even teased a Robin.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been on the Mez train since they showed that first DK Batman at SDCC, was there for the reveal, and have most, if not all, of their figures. However, they don’t have the drive or muscle or stick-to-it-ness to tackle a behemoth like SW.

Granted, I moved to higher end stuff shortly afterwards, but those early Black Series prototypes held a lot of promise. Then the R2 scandal hit.

Funny, it all seems so long ago. Guess it kinda was. BS6" has since improved a fair bit but it was never going to be more than mass market plastic, in the end.

All in all, BS is a solid line tbh, despite them totally abandoning their self decried mandate to only do main characters. At one time there were two BS lines

Oh man....I remember entering the contest to try and win it. That thing was just....so perfect. It was everything a classic Boba Fett should be. The dude that won it was so lucky. Although I wouldn't have been able to follow through with opening it up

This. I finally gave up on Mezco for this exact reason and cancelled every pre-order I had. Not sure how their delays are somehow longer than that of Hot Toys.

Also, notice how they're not even doing much Marvel anymore. I suspect Disney's royalties are cost-prohibitive for Mezco.

The idea of Mezco landing a Star Wars license seems exciting, but the reality feels a little less. I just don't think Star Wars is Mezco's game considering how they mismanage so much of what they do. Mezco always feels more niche while Star Wars is a much bigger and demanding license.

Mezco would have to improve their base body to tackle Star Wars, because what they use right now is far too pudgy, mostly around the legs. Star Wars characters have been around so long and are more memorable in their timely recognition for Mezco's inaccuracies and tendency for artistic interpretation to benefit the line. Their stuff can look quite cartoonish. I think it's good enough for most of their other figures, but Star Wars would demand something more innovative and respectful of the license. They can't just slap Star Wars outfits over their existing body and hope it will look fine.
