Yeah, the poses don't seem to match to me either.

Beast - pensive reading
Colossus - crouched, ready for combat
Nightcrawler - jumping around

So unless Beast is doing some last minute studying while the enemy is approaching they would look kinda strange together.

LOL :rotfl:rotfl

Age of Apocalypse head as the EX switch out. It was in the Comic Con Statues video.

3 heads were shown: Bald, Ice Hair, and AoA.

https://www.sideshowtoy.com/videos.php?videoID=891&key=featured&ref=featured_video

I didn't see three heads, only the bald and AoA heads. They even say the Ex will consuists of the AoA switch out portrait which implies only two heads, unless the reg comes with both the bald and shorter ice hair portraits. I suppose they could give us three switch out portraits like they did with Silver Surfer. I hope so.

I don't know about that Fuzz, this interpretation of Bobby isn't that far from what Jim Lee did. They could have the EX as a change-o-head with hair. :wave

Speaking of which IF this is indeed part of the Jim Lee PF line.
That leaves 6 left.7 if they do a brown Wolvie.

Blue+Gold+X-Men.jpg

If it was part of the Jim Lee PF line than they would call it a premium format figure and not a comiquette. When they do the PF it would be great if it comes with the blockhead haircut.

It's one of the characters best suited to a Comiquette along with Silver Surfer. No matter what scale this turns out your going to have disappointment. If your collecting the Comiquette line your expecting this to be 1/5. And then you have the 1/4 or fail crowd who will be _____ing when it's not 1/4.

Checked again, it's 3 heads. Pause the timer at 1:37. The hair head is shown next to the bald head.

But there are 1/4 comiquettes. It's the scale and costume that makes them match, not the type of statue. This Iceman has the right costume, but appears to be 1/5 from what we can tell. But PFs and Coms will mix when necessary.

IM is a comiquette, his teammates are PFs. Although all that flag could have made it a PF since it's more PF than some PFs, but it's labeled as a comiquette

Colossus is a PF, Magik is a comiquette.

BONUS: Because I'm such a comic geek, Iceman did indeed have a full costume under his ice form in the 90s. It disappeared when he iced up, just like his hair.

Unless they do this little seen version of Robert Drake, there's not much to make a 1/4 PF of Iceman from.

Correct.

Not necessarily. I do think this looks to be 1/5, but...

Silver Surfer, Carnage, Venom, Classic Iron Man and Namor all had little to no cloth on their costumes so their comiquettes were 1/4.

None of them are X-Men :lecture

SSC does do some 1/4 Comiquettes, but X-Men Comiquettes are all 95% 1/5 Scale.

Therefore this should be 1/5 to match the existing scale for that format and franchise/team.

Just like the Jim Lee PF range should all be 1/4, if one wasn't collectors of that line would rage about it. So i expect this to be 1/5 to match the 1/5 range its a part of.

*I suppose you could class Namor as an X-Man though :D

...

As for it being a substitute PF due to the nature of the chaeacter love of being Nekkid, i think they could do the pants he wears in fabric & belt in a 1/4 Jim Lee PF for that line.

True, this is how i'd break it down.

  • Those who collect 1/5 X-Men Comiquettes want this to be 1/5 scale and don't mind characters they want getting the 1/4 PF treatment instead as it makes those collectors happy
  • Those who collect 1/4 Premium Formats want the 1/5 Comiquette to be a 1/4 PF instead and screw everyone else.

It doesn't matter if they're not X-Men.
Premium Formats are always 1/4, but the thing is the comiquette "rules" have been broken across multiple lines already, including the X-Men.

Spider-Man:
1/4 Com: Spider-Man, Venom, Carnage
14 PF: Spider-Man, Green Goblin
1/5 Com: Back in Black Spidey, Iron Spidey, Hobgoblin

Avengers:
1/4 Com: Iron Man
1/4 PF: Cap, Hulk, Thor, Red Skull, Ms. Marvel, BP, She Hulk, Ultron, Bucky
1/5 Com: Hulk, Iron Man, She Hulk, etc

X-Men:
1/4 Com: Magik
1/4 PF: Wolverine, Rogue, Gambit, Emma (!), Mystique, Colossus
1/5 Com: Emma, Mystique, Darkchild, Back Queen, Wolverine, Psylocke

There's a 1/4 X-Men comiquette. Is the 1/5 line messed up now? (I contend it was never a proper "line" to begin with). Should Magik have been 1/5 because she's a comiquette?

Spidey has a 1/4 PF and 1/4 comiquette. Iron Man and now Illyana (as Magik & Darkchild) have comiquettes in 1/4 and 1/5. Iceman probably wouldn't get a PF based on the costume, and also using the similarly clothed Namor as an example. It's not enough for a PF. There'd be less cloth than Abomination undies due to the smaller size. There will always be exceptions for what works best.

Your break down doesn't include those like me, who collect the 1/4 XMen but will get this anyway because it's a cool piece. 1/4 would have been better, but I like this character and statue. That's what really matters.

I wouldn't be so quick to say Magik is 1:4 scale as Sideshow plays tricks with the photography. Her base is clearly raised above Collossus' base by almost an inch. Also, she is in the foreground of the picture. Remember the Hulkbuster/Hulk CQ comparison photo? Hulk was way in the foreground to make him look in scale with Hulkbuster.

I think Magik will turn out to be 1:5.

Now back on topic, I hope Iceman will be 1:4 because he doesn't need to be a pf since he has no fabric elements. We will see!

This is funny, I thought the 1/5 or 1/4 debate would be dead already. It is what it is, accept it, order it and move on.

Or they could actually tell us the approximate scale instead of keeping us guessing with apples and other fruits.

That would be ideal yet Sideshow continues to use the traditional apples. That "scale representation" function is also pretty much useless.

I actually hope this is the 1/5 version as I don't like the face. Looks a bit too much like Dr. Manhattan. Really like the dynamic pose and hope we get another 1/4 representation with a more Jim Lee headsculpt.

Yeah, I'm with you on that, I hope they come up with another 1/4 scale version in the future. I'm just worried it will be a boring static pose.

This is indeed a PF release. The only draw back is that it needs to remain frozen while on display. S.S. will be putting up the refrigeration system for sale as part of their Holiday Season Specials.

The refrigeration system is not included, they are meant to melt to make full use of the TBD + non-refundable deposit ploy.

meltable iceman + TBD or Open edition size + non-refundable deposit = free $$$$!!!!

When he melts they can call it battle damage too......
