Another one for you guys, this is a easier one and most ppl know about msconfig in the START-Run menu method but it's a simple fix for programs running in the background that you might not necessarily need.

Here's an example of where you can uncheck programs that are running but you might not need at the current state of the PC idling.

You can expand the programs title bar to look at where the programs are installed and located if you are not sure what programs you might be unchecking, keep in mind that these do not uninstall the program so no worries there, it just keeps it from running in the background processes while you might not need them to is all, hence free more system memory.

MSCONFIG is WONDERFUL, I use that all the time, stupid programs try to sneak up into your startup.

If your computer is old and getting slow, you might need some more RAM
 
Please, don't start another Apple vs PC debate. Not everyone is going to buy an Apple computer. That's just the way it is.

btw...I've had no problems with Vista. :dunno

Maybe not now but when it first came out and you had any hardware that was remotely high end...epic....fail.
