the eagle has landed......the eagle has landed........:panic:

I should prolly do the mod now huh?...........:lol

Pics? How is it? Can you describe for us impatient ones? How's the collar and chain? What color are your eyes?

:D

i will take some pics after the mod/futzing portion of this program. i will say this about the cape itself..........it's heavier than i expected......which is a good thing. just holding it by the collar i can tell it will hang beautifully. both the collar & chain seems to be holding up rather well........:wink1:

my eyes?........blue.........wait, why do you need to know that anyway ?.....:tap

:lol

Here are some quick pics of my Vader.

Same pose, and lousy shots (sorry), but I love the cape. The collar and chain are very cool, but are snug to the neck and I can't imagine will be seen at all given the helmet/mask covers it. At least you can see how it hangs. Obviously, more people will chime in with their mods and maybe they'll do something different. The vest I'm not sure of yet. This is the Hasbro vest. I kind of expected something similar. On Lance's (at least on mine), there are no arm holes or anything, it just sort of drapes over the shoulders. This could or couldn't be prototypical, I'm not that versed on the costume. But I can't get it to look good and I for one will be anxious to see more feedback as they arrive to you guys. Perhaps I'm not a good futzer. But as it is, it bunches up over the shoulder armour and doesn't look good. I am that much closer to my perfect Vader though. Keep the photos coming fellas. I'm hoping to see that I'm just missing something obvious.

Well I think the way Lance did the tunic is more accurate to the actual ANH costume and not the Mattel "robe without sleeves" that we all got used to. ANH was more Samurai. You can see in some shots that it has parts in the sides which would indicate that it just hangs over the shoulders and is held in place by the belt.

I was the one who gave Lance the pattern.

It will take some futzing to get right but its not hard.

If someone, anyone, could take pics of the cape and tunic just layed out flat we'd all have a better idea.

close up of the collar since DI was kind enough to post the laid out cape.

Mine just came and this is the first pics I took before I saw you had done it.

Looks good so far, although I really need to steam the material.

The drape looks excellent, good weight too. I'm eager to try it out but it will have to wait until tomorrow or perhaps even Weds! :horror

I want to have time to do it right.

Lance, can I press the tunic and cape or should I use steam?

i would suggest steam flo-valve............you could iron it but put it under a thin cloth like a hankerchief or t-shirt and use a low setting.......:lecture

Thanks, Big-B Lumberteria! :rock

I'm thinking that I might try a rubber band around the waist in order to get the tunic sitting just right.... I still need to come up with something to keep the shoulder area of the tunic from sliding down though....

Just got my set. Now waiting for the KP body. Thanks again Lance

Looks good, Flosi.

When I get to mine, I think I might stitch it together first -- meaning the bunching up under the belt -- and then place it on Vader. I can see how the tunic can be a problem to hold everything in place and set the belt with only two hands. By sewing it, I could really control how the bunching goes and fix it in place for life.

***Rubber band is also a good idea because you could cut it once the belt is on. But if you ever need to remove that belt... :slap
