has anyone tried or thought about cutting vaders boot around where the shin piece/tall part of the boot come together?...........almost as if he were wearing shoes. was thinking of taking a look at this to see if i could get better foot articulation. i think there might be enough overlap from the top part to pull down and hide any cut/seam.

That's crazy talk.

I haz cape and tunic :panic:

So what do you think?

Barry you're bat**** crazy.

So how sturdy is this material, is it gonna hold up to futzing and such? Disappointed theres no sowing around the edge, just a simple cut. Will it start to unravel or come apart around the edges? Expected a little higher quality for $70. Material is heavy and drapes really nice just don't want it falling apart over time. Is anyone familiar with the material or can Lance chime in?

Haven't been home yet to put it on Vader, but the weight is excellent and pics show how well it drapes, I can't wait to see it on Vader for myself. Pics later.

^^^

I was a little curious about that myself; I hope the material is cauterized along the edge in some way.

I was thinking perhaps to get some 'fabric glue' -- whatever that sticky stuff is to hold material down -- and maybe iron a thin edge down along the sides and use that stuff to hold in place.

I have a cape from Lance's very first run of custom Vader capes. It's still perfect. No fraying whatsoever. We'll be good to go.

i agree.......... i would almost swear there is a type glue that is real lite and uses some kind of applicator like a chapstick but is heat activated. i will research that a bit

Hey guys sorry I have been super busy. No need to worry about fraying at all as this is the same material I have made for the batman capes for years. It is honestly really hard to keep up to the date on the threads but if anyone have any questions please pm me or email me
Directly at [email protected] thanks guys

Sweet, if it hold ups, I'm happy.

Just got it on Vader, sweet mama baby Jesus! It looks SOO good! :yess:

also you can iron the cape on a rayon/spandex setting or steam it. I would not iron the edges of the cape, just the body of it to get out the wrinkles. thanks guys

Thanks, Lance!

So, going forward with the futzing and such if anyone has any tips as how to get the ebst overall look should we post that info here or in the Vader thread? If Lance doesn't mind I'm all for just disscussing it in this thread.

Having futzed this thing a few times now, here is what I did:
- Drape the tunic over the neck, and fold in the material like an accordion as best you can over the shoulders.

- Keep an eye on the length of the tunic at the toes and back and try to even it up as best as you can. The back isn't as big of a deal because the cape will cover it.

- Once you have the tunic positioned the way you want, grip Vader by the waist and attach the belt (or a rubber band - that was a good idea!), then continue to futz the position of th tunic over the shoulders and at the belt until you like how it looks.

- The cape doesn't have much futzing, just attach it to the neck post carefully so the chain doesn't break. There is no way to have the chain showing under the helmet with this cape, without modifying it. Reattach the head, being careful not to move the position of the tunic too much.

- Futz the cape according to the display you want.

- Drink an ice cold brew while you admire how much better Vader looks in your collection.

Still need to futz the tunic some, but sweet hell does the cape drape like a boss!

Quick shot FIP (futz in progress)...
