As promised.... Note in the last image the difference in the nose and mouth and brow really highlighting the revision of the sculpt.

In the first 2 pics that sculpt looks stunning, spot on perfect. In that last comparison pic it looks awful! What happened? The eyes look crazed

Crazed is probably a bit of an exaggeration don't you think? Intense perhaps.

Hmmmm perhaps. We can go with intense if you feel it describes them better. The sculpt in that last pic still looks no where near as good as it does in the 2 initial pictures. Perhaps it's the angle or the lighting, I don't know, it doesn't look half as good to me anyway.

Ah its the eye paint of course shadowing hides them in the first 2 pics. The sculpt is spot on but the paint up on the eyes is throwing it all off for me.

That's the best you are going to get because the sculpt and figure were returned to Denny long ago. If you want EVEN flat lighting you aren't going to get that from me anyway... Your best bet is to go back in this thread and look at Denny's in hand pics.

Same sculpt in both sets of pics. And by that i mean the EXACT same one. Not an identical copy. THE sculpt.

Then as I said it must have been the lighting :). It looks excellent in all the pics apart from the comparison pic

Thanks for those last pics Omar. Now, the hair should be a bit more blond for production and the eyes a bit more striking blue.

How does one go about "revising" a sculpt anyway? Can he really modify a sculpt in hand or is that just a term used and he creates a new one from scratch?

Oh yes, the original wax sculpt is modified during revision. The surface is heated and altered. The physical sculpt is changed. To resculpt would be a massive time waster as usually its small adjustments needed and the heavy lifting (i.e. head shape, hair, facial features) is generally already good to go.

Sculpt looks great!
The eye positioning could be lowered a bit and what stshammgod indicated and it would be perfect IMO.
Here's a photoshop pic that was posted with these revisions.

Nicely done, Capn. I also think if the hair color was lighter, it might help with the likeness. Kirk's hair in these new movies is pretty light, almost blonde in some images. I tweaked the color a little...

Can't say for certain but Id say Not gonna happen at this point. The return on investment just isn't there for Denny and his team to rework a sculpt for a figure that's been on pre-order for more than 2 months. There are too many projects in the future that will require attention. Also the kind of change you are requesting... to 'lower' the eyes is NOT a simple one. The closer the features are to the CORE of the sculpt the more changing them will affect the surroundings. That's why mouths and eyebrows and ears and noses are easier fixes then moving the eyes up or down.

I think he meant paint the eyes so he's not looking "up" so much... I'm not sure on that. I'd like Kirk and Spock to compliment each other, so do the eye position to compliment.

The other two revisions (hair and eye color) are just on the paint end though.

Cool you can revise a wax sculpt. How can you reshape it without losing the existing detail by pressing on it? I find it fascinating.

Yeah sorry that's what i meant.

Typically texturing is re-done. Details like creases and wrinkles dont disappear although they may need to be defined again.
