Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - The Cowboy ~ SCULPTS REVEALED ~

Yeah, I couldn't agree more, buddy. I'd love to have The Duke and Blondie standing side by side; two western icons if I've ever heard of them. The question now becomes, which one? Rooster Cogburn seems like he might be the most iconic, but Wayne had such a prolific career that it would be hard to choose. I was just thinking of the dio possibilities, and it has me wondering:will the Blondie figures be weathered at all by Denny and his team?

I'd probably pick up 2 if it's ever done my father is a massive Morrison fan! The one thing I did mention to Denny was that I'd want the figure to be handled very similarly to this one. I'd want TG (providing he had an interest in doing the sculpt that is) on sculpt, SMcG and Oliver on boots and shooting irons. I'd want it handled differently from your average Iminime figure project as if it's gonna be done it needs to be done right and to the highest possible standard! If that means I have to wait until individual artists have the time to get this off the ground then so be it I'm not going anywhere lol.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - The Cowboy ~ SCULPTS REVEALED ~

I don't think that the amount of projects Iminime is doing is the issue. I know this is a concern for several people here but if you put to the side the interests list threads and just look at what is currently being worked on now, it's really not that much.
Well I don't look at the number of projects in isolation as a measure of how burdened Iminime seems to be. I look at the time between announcement/pre-order and delivery. And on that measure, I think 4-6 months indicates that they are doing more than they really should. If folks didn't pay until the items were delivered, that is one thing. And I know I'm rehashing a stale argument at this point, I also realize Iminime aren't like some of the artists in the past who employed this model and ended up leaving boardies in the lurch with no money and no product, but I still think this is problematic and not a good precedent. All you need is one major crisis of some sort where Iminime is out of commission somehow, then you've got, say, 3-5 figures that were never delivered, the money is spent, no more revenue in the pipeline or real incentive to finish those older products, and you're gonna have folks grabbing the torches and pitchforks looking for blood, and asking how we allowed it to all happen.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - The Cowboy ~ SCULPTS REVEALED ~

i agree with Karamazov80 on that end....it could just take one catastrophy and boooom....i just hope it doesn't happen tho...:)

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - The Cowboy ~ SCULPTS REVEALED ~

A fella said a few pages back that he got the okay from Denny to post a John Wayne interest thread, but that he's waiting until they've got less on their plate, first.:lol

The Duke is my all time favorite & I would love to see that happen. :yess:

Of the 35 DX sets, how many are already spoken for? I hope we can see a full reveal before the preorder frenzy tomorrow.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - The Cowboy ~ SCULPTS REVEALED ~

VIPs got 20. Supposedly some retailers may have been offered 5 or so. Somewhere between 10 and 15?

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - The Cowboy ~ SCULPTS REVEALED ~

It's not a stale argument at all. We have to pay in full and Paypal only covers us for 45 days. You have every right to be concerned. Since their goal is to grow to be a larger company and they want to have many projects in the pipeline at once like a bigger outfit, maybe Iminime can get to the point soon where they start to do NRD or flex pays. But see where that solves one problem it creates another because of the very limited ES. When a DX like Blondie or Bateman blows off of the shelves in a heartbeat would it be fair to offer an NRD or flex pay on an item like this and then there are cancellations along the way, worst of all at the end of the stretch? Maybe work that system for the regular run and not for the DX's :dunno

Like most systems it's an imperfect one but it seems that it's the way small operation customizers need to work. We see it always happen with Rainman all the time. Just the most recent example being Vince. We paid for him more than 45 days ago, right? And just one of many recent examples is Betojuice. I that interest list started a year ago and I paid 6 months ago; I just received him 2 weeks ago. Again your point is very valid; Iminime (and this applies even more so to other artists here) can get knocked on their *** with one catastrophe. I just don't know what the solution is.

That's true I should really discount the 382 interest threads currently running :lol but in all seriousness they do have quite a bit on there plate atm correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know the following is either still at some stage of production or close to completion and hasn't shipped yet, Bateman, Daryl, Rick, Se7en Prisoner, Cowboy, Riggs, Murtaugh, Brad Pitt (Fight Club), Narrator (Fight Club), Michonne and Training Day Alonzo are there any others I've missed? 11 isn't a massive amount I guess but it is still quite a few when there all on the go at the one time.

I love Iminime I'm very thankful for there presence but as you say the reveals do need to tighten up quite a bit.

EDIT: Forgot Die Hard and Memento lol so 13+ any others I've missed

You're right, it does seem like a lot but I think this is a model that Iminime needs to follow to be the company that they want to be. I don't think that 4-5 months for a figure to be completed from when they first start working on it to the day it's shipped is unreasonable (PayPal protection issue aside). These things aren't created overnight. Look at Hot Toys; they are tremendous in comparison and they experience delays all the time. They always take at least 6 months from PO to shipping for a figure. I ordered my DX11 last June and just got it last week!

Also of the 13 projects that you mentioned, keep in mind a few things. McClane and Lenny haven't even been started. Trev is sculpting Blondie and Lenny and Rovo is doing McClane so they have some outside helping hands there. Oliver and SMcG are helping with boots and accessories and Denny is adding a 3D modeler to the team.

Also all of these projects are in various stages of production which is a very healthy way to keep the gears turning. Some are almost ready to ship, some are half way thru the production cycle and some are just getting started. Again going back to Hot Toys; between in stock and PO stuff they currently have 37 items on SS, each of which they produce in the low to high 1000's. Considering Iminime is a team of several painters, several sculptors and a tailor and not a smaller op like RM or Beto, I think what they're doing is reasonable.

Here is my understanding of current Iminime projects:

Awaiting shipment:

Riggs (End of April/Early May)
Murtaugh (end of april/early may)
Bateman
Rick
Daryl
Jon Doe

Awaiting final reveal:

Blondie

Sculpted and proto coming soon:

Michonne
Narrator Jack
Tyler Durden

Sculpting in progress (I have seen WIP shots):

John McClane

Sculpting begining in/after May:

Lenny (May start)
Merle
Alonzo

If you look at it that way it doesnt seem like a lot... Its not like Rainman or Beto who have 1 or 2 people working on a figure. Denny has a team dedicated to each stage. While Riggs and Murtaugh are being completed, Bateman is being painted, the tailor is designing prototypes for Michonne, Rovo is sculpting McClane, Trev working on Lenny, Iminime in house guys are sculpting other aspects... its all good.

Lenny as in of mice and men Lenny? lol

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - The Cowboy ~ SCULPTS REVEALED ~

Well sheeeet, actually when you study it laid out like that, they don't have much more going on after they ship the almost completed stuff, huh. They need more work! We better start some new interest lists STAT!

:lol

:chase

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - The Cowboy ~ SCULPTS REVEALED ~

Nice I have an interest list to start today then lol

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - The Cowboy ~ SCULPTS REVEALED ~

Daniel Craig as Bond in Casino Royale sculpting will start in a few months according to Denny!

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - The Cowboy ~ SCULPTS REVEALED ~

That's good news about Bond but as I said earlier, this will be a challenge for them. I think Iminime really shines when they are doing a character that is non existant or really rare in the market. There are a lot of good Bond sculpts out there and a very decent figure could be bashed for around $200 on an official TT, less on a cheaper body. They are really going to have to do something special for a $350 Bond.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - The Cowboy ~ SCULPTS REVEALED ~

Clearly there's interest though! I'll be flat out honest... I've yet to see a PAINTED Bond headsculpt realistic enough to place with my other 1/6. And I think the tux he wears in Casino Royale is so distinctive, generic 1/6 suits/tuxes just don't cut it.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - The Cowboy ~ SCULPTS REVEALED ~

I sure hope the Duke gets some serious consideration in the near future.
