There are all kinds of circumstances as to why that wouldn't decay and one of them being high salt content. Another would be humidity. If something can dry up quickly, it will last a good long time. It's humidity that causes mold. If it can dry quick, it would petrify.

I saw a show where people would put dead loves ones in salt then unbury them and they'd be like beef jerky. They had some kind of ceremony then. :monkey4

That's absolutely true, but generally speaking, even when things harden as you describe, their appearance changes. The fact that the burger and bun look virtually identical after 6 months is kind of scary. The fries did wither a bit (which some people continue to claim as proof that they aren't the same fries :banghead), but even they don't look all that different.

Having found petrified food under my stove when I've moved it, the fries don't surprise me.

There are times that I've brought home buns from school for my birds that they dropped on the floor or something and would've otherwise thrown away. They dried out pretty quickly without molding, but I've had bread mold when left in the package.

If it weren't for the fact that I live in farm country and I don't want to attract bugs, I'd leave things sit out to see what would happen.

Just remember though that salt and sugar are preservatives.

Just not seeing it, myself. I think it is a different meal.

:gah:

OK, I rotated the bun from the second picture back to its original position. I don't know how much more obvious it can be. It is the same bun.

My god, WHO CARES if it's real or not?

It could be a play-doh representation of the real thing for all I know.

Either way it doesn't bother me. ____ing health nuts and Mcdonalds apologists. At the end of the day, people will stuff their faces knowing damn well it's bad for them. While others, mostly health nuts will somehow be offended by such crap for some odd reason (potentially because they wish they could stuff their faces with it too, maybe make love to it? Idk).

I own a car wash and sometimes I help when we are busy and Im short handed. I have seen cars with fries about 3 months old that look like you just bought them. They are just hard.
