I canceled some figures here and there. But with Aragorn there is a good chance you will get your whole money back at least if you sell it on the aftermarket. And maybe you will find interest in 1/6 again until then

Wait to sell it after or if you wanna make someone happy, give the P/O away and get your deposit money if you got it with Kit however you still have to wait until release I believe.

Did we ever get an update on their lineup? there was also a Legolas and Nazgûl figure supposed to release.

Asmus has a nice Legolas. The Nazgûl aren’t bad either. Though I’d like to see what Inart could do with them

Asmus missed on Aragorn and Boromir the most.

That’s good to know.
If their code has been cracked then we can as good as confirm several upcoming announcements then like BVS, Knightmare and TDK Batman, maybe Knightmare Joker, Wonder Woman, Professor McGonagall and/or Snape, and Matrix figures.
I went looking through some of their old posts and they’re quite forthcoming about figures they have no current plans to make like Terminator or Nurse Joker.

Yup, this is the same that the parent company Queen Studios does as well and one of the main reason I'm second guessing one of my JND 1/3 purchases as Queen gave me a similar response when I inquired about a blue and red suit Cavill Superman statue

I’m starting to quietly wonder if InArt is having issues with Aragorn since both he and Gandalf were announced reasonably close to each other and there is no sign of Aragorn’s imminent release.

Not thinking of problems in the general sense, as I’m sure they have the logistics and wardrobe all ready to go by now, it’s just that those initial photos of the prototype set the bar SO UNBELIEVABLY HIGH, that I wonder if they are having difficulties getting the run of production figures to clear that bar.

A depressing thought, I realize… but the expectations on this figure above all others (which many, myself included, have dubbed potentially the greatest 1/6 figure of all times) are so high that disappointment in the final product from collectors who are so eager to have this piece in their collections is something InArt fears to suffer.

So to Queen/InArt’s credit, it seems they will not be rushed. That’s a very good thing, of course. My only fear being whether it’s even possible for a production figure to meet the expectations they’ve set without a ton of expertly rooted wool hair covering 35% of the sculpt.

My hope is that the reason the release is taking as long as it is, is that they’ve decided (for the critical sculpt paint at least) to turn this over to the same artist (or group of same) that completed the prototype, and just let it take as long as it needs to. That’s probably impractical given how my pieces collectors excitedly preordered of this masterpiece, but if anyone can do this, InArt has shown that it is them.

Been wanting to bump this thread just glad it wasn’t me that did it. I’m wondering myself. I would think someone would have gotten a production piece by now and did a review. Cannot wait to see the reviews start showing up on here.

I'd rather they didn't rush it and make sure to nail the final paint, rooting and improving the costume from customer feedback and observations. I think we are all used to waiting in this hobby, as excruciating as this particular wait is!

Totally this. I think they're just stuck with Gandalf orders, and until they don't have all of them delivered they can't order production for another figure.

I have zero insight into their business, but my wild, completely unsourced speculation is that Gandalf proved a lot more time-consuming to produce and a lot more popular than they expected. I will bet that their initial estimates for production numbers were revised upward considerably once people got a look at him. LOTR may not be as big a draw for collectors in the Asian market where they have their license, but with international sellers get around that pretty handily. I would bet any perceived delay in Aragorn is a product of the success of Gandalf. Which I see as a pretty good problem to have.

A lot probably has to do with the sheer amount of hair they have to root for a single Gandalf head. Then blow that up into the thousands. It's their only figure with both long rooted hair and then an even longer beard. Both having different texture as well.

Personally, without knowing, after watching YT vids (China Observer) figure anything connected in any way with China - costume materials, workers, paint, shipping etc. might be delayed and/or have to be re-sourced, especially if you contracted a factory for specialty materials. Some companies are moving out of China to Vietnam or other.

Gandalf though was put up for pre-order sometime in May 2022 and Aragorn was put up on January 8, 2023. That's a good 7-8 months later. It does seem it will get delayed longer since The Batman has.

Wow, in my memory, those announcements were much closer together, but that could just be that I was late to the party learning of the Gandalf announcement.

As for the fact that we've heard nothing regarding timing for Aragorn's release as of yet, I've officially subscribed to the theory outlined above that they had so many Gandalf orders that they needed to prioritize and get those done before moving on to Aragorn.

I'm just so incredibly happy with Gandalf that I just can't wait to have someone to pose him with! And there could be no better choice for that than THIS Aragorn! My collector's frenzy on full display!

Yes, Gandalf POs were up in May 2022 and Aragorn POs in January 2023. Furthermore, at the end of summer 2023 InArt stated that both the releases of Gandalf and Aragorn would have been delayed. Gandalf, who was initially scheduled for Q2 2023, started shipping not before September 2023 (Q3). Aragorn was initially scheduled for Q3 2023 (likely December), but given that they are now dealing with Pennywise and Batman, I expect him to start shipping not earlier than Q2 2024. My guess is May-June.
