RavenAsh
Morgan, congratulations! You almost got them.
Firstly this is absolutely one of the greatest prototypes I’ve ever seen and my goodness InArt’s list continues to terrify me. I enjoyed LOTR, but it’s not an IP I need displayed in my collection, aside from maybe Legolas. But this is so exciting for everyone who loves these movies, and furthermore, anyone into this hobby. The work they did to perfect this is to be applauded. It’s a step up on even their previous great work.
BUT secondly (and this is where I feel like I’m going a bit insane here) I feel like the prices are far better than I expected them to be. 330 shouldn’t even be a discussion. That’s a Hot Toy with shipping and taxes. For instance in Australia, Sugo listed the sculpted for 440 aud. Mace is 430 aud. This quality is above and beyond even the outstanding work I feel they’ve done with most of these last few sculpts. To me what’s most exciting beyond the likeness is the work on the sculpted hair. I’ve always felt the Joker’s sculpted hair was GOOD but not up to Hot Toys’ level just yet. I’m wrong now. This sculpted hair is jaw dropping. From afar it can look rooted. That’s an incredible job by the InArt team.
470 on the rooted is a bit more pricey for sure but the comparison I’m making when I feel like it’s a good price is to customs, as others have discussed in this thread, BUT ALSO the price they gave us for the Joker two pack, and their other rooted endeavours. I feel this is exactly in line with those, and arguably is even a better deal considering the likeness and the amount of accessories. I think 140 dollars more is worth that upgrade due to the quality that’s being shown here but that’s going to be a question to you, and whether you want that. If Aragorn is one of your absolute favourites characters and LOTR is incomparable to you, I think it’s a great deal.
Nothing is cheap when you get this deep into collecting, and pricing is always going to be subjective. Especially when you’re searching for a level of perfection with likeness and rooted hair. A very strong 2023 opening from InArt. Love to see the excitement in this thread. I cannot wait to see what they’ll do with the characters on their list that I’m personally anticipating…although my wallet isn’t complaining about the wait.
