It'll be interesting to see if InArt forces Hot Toys to make efforts to step up their game a bit. With the actual release of the Joker, this may be the first real competition that HT has ever really had.

I also have an issue with the presentation, it’s all a bit museum pose dull. All of their figures look like they’re waiting for an elevator, why not add some interesting poses? Show us how well they can move. That Aragorn pic with him kneeling is most dynamic thing they’ve shown. Not to mention the info sheets display all the wrong things, they seem to have devoted so much time to the sculpt and hair that the preorder and presentation is an afterthought.

I won’t entirely disagree about the posing but I do think you’re missing the stylistic intention behind InArt’s choice to shoot these figures in very natural, unexaggerated poses.

They’re presenting the figure as if it were the character in a costume testing-like environment or like they’re shooting for publicity material- along with specific, memorable scene recreations.
The aim is to convey lifelike realism; ‘Doesn’t this look like a miniature person’ over ‘look how rad the articulation on this toy is!’

My heart wants the fellowship, but the logistics side of me simply doesn't see InArt investing in Hobbit bodies. I don't think they could even reuse them for the Philospher's Stone kids because they'd still be too short.

There's a universe where Gimli happens, solely because they might be able to reuse the body for Tyrion should their GOT endeavors prove fruitful.

Whoever is doing the paint applications for this figure, I hope they're getting paid well. That close-up of the sculpt...thats just nuts man!
While I enjoyed the movies, I never really got into the LotR's franchise as much as some other people did (probably because I never read the books). But that level of detail even has me considering on getting this guy.
Really looking forward to seeing which franchise these folks come out with next. InArt really is putting HT to shame with these releases.

Happy with the fantastic works so far for Star Wars license from Hot Toys. Don't need CW Kenobi to be priced at $500+ for ultra detailed realism level whatsoever.

Agreed. Honestly that’s the one thing that kind of makes me a bit irritated with the InArt fans. I get being a bit disenchanted/irritated with some choices Hot Toys makes but it’s not like they’re making garbage figures like some seem to like to make it out. InArt is making very nice figures I’m not denying that, but I feel like Hot Toys definitely still has their place.

lol yep same. Even so I don't think I'd order more regardless. If I did, maybe I'd order the rooted, but I'd keep it in a safe and order the sculpted to display. So what's the point? I'm too selective and I do appreciate that because it saves money

Same. While there's no question that this is one heck of a prototype and is one of the best, if not THE best officially licensed protos from a company we've seen yet, like you said, it's not like HT is making garbage figures. Regardless of how you feel about the movie/characters, just a few weeks ago most were praising HT for the amazing looking AOTC Anakin and Padme.

Yes, HT can and has gotten a little boring from time to time, and not everything they do is a homerun, but credit were credit is due. The tune in this thread is sounding more like HT has all of sudden transformed into Star Ace

That's not to say I'm not INCREDIBLY excited by this release. I'm actually going to finally sell off all my LOTR Premium Format statues b/c of how good this looks. Those are the first "high end" statues I ever bought and I never thought I would sell them but here we are.

We're still in the honeymoon stage of this thread though. Eventually we'll start talking more and more about the inaccuracies like the ones others have previously mentioned once the shock and awe has come down some. Surprised no one has mentioned the belt buckle being wrong just yet.
