@Asta can you copy this into the first post of the thread?
It's done.

Yeah, I went the standard as well. The rooted hair is nice, but I don't want to have to deal with keeping it look good. After considerable back and forth, finally pulled the trigger on standard ver.
Have no use nor will ever display the shattered Anduril.
I have a child and mortgage, so my wife need not know of this.
They don’t have the license for broken toes as they only have the Fellowship of the Ring for Aragorn. Maybe Sam can come with a stabbed foot though?at this rate of accurate details, I'm sure they even made his broken toe inside that boots.
Oh yes please, Galadriel and Arwen!!!
Would love to see a real, proper quality 1/6 scaled figures of them!!
Same. While there's no question that this is one heck of a prototype and is one of the best, if not THE best protos from a company we've seen yet, like you said, it's not like HT is making garbage figures. Regardless of how you feel about the movie/characters, just a few weeks ago most were praising HT for the amazing looking AOTC Anakin and Padme.
Yes, HT can and has gotten a little boring from time to time, and not everything they do is a homerun, but credit were credit is due. The tune in this thread is sounding more like HT has all of sudden transformed into Star Ace
That's not to say I'm not INCREDIBLY excited by this release. I'm actually going to finally sell off all my LOTR Premium Format statues b/c of how good this looks. Those are the first "high end" statues I ever bought and I never thought I would sell them but here we are.
We're still in the honeymoon stage of this thread though. Eventually we'll start talking more and more about the inaccuracies like the ones others have previously mentioned once the shock and awe has come down some. Surprised no one has mentioned the belt buckle being wrong just yet.
I mean at this point the ANH Luke is like eight years old at least. Like you say people get upset when Hot Toys does re-releases. Can’t have it both ways.Maybe Hot Toys is making an Episode II Anakin that looks exactly like Hayden, and that's great if you're an Episode II fan, but it doesn't go back and make my Episode IV Luke look more like Mark. At the moment my interest in InArt is predominantly driven by them bringing older figures of iconic characters up to a new quality threshold. Hot Toys won't be competing in my mind if they don't approach the iconic legacy characters they have the rights to in the same way. But I realize that's an unpopular opinion. A lot collectors seem to really dislike "repeats."
I think it's more so a case of people just wanting a high end definitive "one" take of their main characters. I'm sure a lot of people would rather have a "one and done" scenario for Luke/Vader/Han/Leia. Nothing is wrong with Hot Toys but I imagine if they can trade the 100+ clones and filler characters they do, they would for a definitive Inart version of the main core characters.Yes, HT can and has gotten a little boring from time to time, and not everything they do is a homerun, but credit were credit is due. I'm just loving the buzz on the forum about this figure. The excitement level is off the chart. I hope and pray that what we get doesn't disappoint in any way. If Gandalf is a winner, then I will be totally relaxed about Aragorn.
Bring them on!!!!
That's the premium version, with leaking blood feature. XDThey don’t have the license for broken toes as they only have the Fellowship of the Ring for Aragorn. Maybe Sam can come with a stabbed foot though?
Yeeessssss!! all those girls deserve your epic excitement, Zurdo!!As much as I'd want to collect other characters, I couldn't say no to Galadriel, Arwen and Eowyn - I'd defo hafta get those!!!!

I understand where you're coming from. Yes, I would also love updated versions of older releases with the new quality upgrades that HT is putting out for their recent SW releases (most likely due to InArt's work no doubt). Unfortunately, there's no telling if HT will go back to older releases and do 2.0s. I would sure would like them to. I personally don't mind repeats/2.0s. I'll buy the better one and sell the old one, no problemMaybe Hot Toys is making an Episode II Anakin that looks exactly like Hayden, and that's great if you're an Episode II fan, but it doesn't go back and make my Episode IV Luke look more like Mark. That's understandable, and I agree with you for the most part about wanting a definitive look for a beloved character. But, when it comes to SW, who is really to say what version of the character is the "one" definitive take? You'd have to make one from all 3 films to really satisfy the SW collectors b/c the ANH looks aren't the favorite of everyone. With Star Wars, I don't think you, as a company, can really have a one and done take for those characters.I think it's more so a case of people just wanting a high end definitive "one" take of their main characters. cant be too sure. the last time this happened, kit closed POs early since all orders were filled up. he gave a set amount of days but it closed before the time was upSo just a question, when does OSK take out the PO, at the end of the day on the 9th for the premium?

But, you're also comparing an approximately 7-8 year old figure (ANH Luke) to likes of the newer offerings like this Aragorn which isn't quite fair, unless I'm misunderstanding. At the time, HT ANH Luke was arguably an upgrade to anything SS had put out before them as well as the Ultimate Unison figure. Who knows where we'll be in this hobby after another decade. Whatever we see here from InArt now could be considered outdated and 'garbage' to whatever comes next.
I don't see how you can expect to compare the two, nor how you can expect it (original ANH Luke) to live it to today's standards given the advancements we've had since the original was released.I actually think it is fair to compare the two, if there's no intention to make another ANH Luke. Hot Toys could come out tomorrow with an InArt quality level Mon Mothma or something and it wouldn't really matter to me at all, given my collecting focus is on the big, iconic looks for the big, iconic characters and at this present point in time, the highest quality ANH Luke doesn't hold up even to their own present day work, much less this new competition.

I think it's also a gamble for companies to do this if you think about it. You want to come out of the gate with top hitters from your licenses that will sell. Hot Toys isn't making a Pepper Potts before Tony Stark/Iron Man. We don't get Okoye before Black Panther. We don't get Jim Gordon before a Batman. I agree with what you're saying but I also see why companies don't do this and I think Inart has also touched upon this back when. This isn't just a Hot Toy problem, it's an industry wide problem, but every new toyline launches with the biggest characters first, and then, inevitably, when the company gets better at what they do, that leaves those characters among the lower quality figures in the whole line. Hell, we can see it right here with InArt, this Viggo is more Viggo than their Ian is Ian. I sometimes wish these lines would launch with second string characters first, get the kinks worked out and then tackle the big guys. It's what I thought InArt was doing originally, since Legolas and the Nazgul were the characters they were advertising first and yet now they're nowhere to be seen.
I hear you brother @choombazUntil now. Truly the most beautiful 1/6 I have ever seen and will cause a seismic shift in the industry. I have never ordered a premium figure so quickly. Got it down to $580AU (about $400US) at Sugo with various discounts. Just wow.
Now where on Middle-earth can I get a Gandalf?
Edit: didn’t get as good a deal but ordered Gandalf through Sugo as well.
Edit Edit: expect to see HT for sale from me real soon
