InArt: The Lord of the Rings - Aragorn 1:6

He is my favorite LOTR character but dunno if I'm still willing to drop that money for the premium version in this economy, I'll probably get the regular version when it releases or when they put up a second wave of POs much to the horror of elitist collectors.

Yeah I got the standard myself, the sculpted hair on it looks great enough that it's worth saying some money on. Still pricey, but I'll just make a few smaller payments on it to Kit before release to manage it. Hope you can secure one!

They could add the Witch-King helmet sculpt and mace and make it two figures in one, to me the Witch-King look always looked badass and more memorable than the regular Nazgul look.

Thought it was the Fellowship license they had. Do they have the licenses for the other movies?

Actually ASMUS's GTG is great, yes there is the eye issue but costume wise, and sculpt wise I have no raging need to replace.
Also, and IMO it can't be said enough, ASMUS has produced detailed, accessory loaded figures that are beautiful and also cost effective. I defy any company to produce a Bilbo, Thorin, Gimli, etc. at that price point.
If there are dedicated collectors who can, or wish to, pay for the ultimate figure, I respect that. For me, ASMUS has struck the right balance for what I am willing to pay. Anyone in theory can commission the "ultimate figure" at any time, which would probably run around $1000 or more.

I'm also not inclined to bash HT, who has done some amazing work. In any case, while I picked up this Aragorn, to me the sculpt is one of the best I've seen, but is still not IMO PERFECT. But that doesn't matter, because the production run is the real test. If I owned the original Ranger Aragorn, I wouldn't bother. He's not my favorite character. On the shelf, from a few feet way, it's not gonna make any difference. So I won't be replacing the Helm's Deep ASMUS Aragorn.

Just sayin'. It's always fantastic to get a great sculpt. But there's other considerations like costume, accessories, price.

I agree, sure Asmus have had some really big blunders in the past but people are acting like they weren't the only company giving collectors an actual full LOTR line and engaging with the community, sure the InArt Aragorn prototype is insanely good and much better than Asmus previous attempts at the character but I don't see InArt going as deep witht he line like Asmus has and credit where credit is due Asmus seems determined to improve and keep providing collectors with LOTR figures I don't think anyone else would make.

Ah forgot they're limited to Fellowship. They don't have it for the other movies atm as far as I'm aware, which is probably why they were only able to include a broken Anduril and not a completed one for this. Although I don't see it being a problem for them to get the license for the other movies if they wanted to.

Witch-King with a beheaded Fellbeast head accessory/base would be pretty nice, I still have the old Toybiz versions stored somewhere I used to have all the fellowship but I think most of it was lost or carelessly given away, my favorite was the Aragorn and Brego set, the figures weren't amazing by any means but at the time it was nice having such a complete LOTR collection.

Is it the Nazgul + Fellbeast figure set? I had that growing up. Always a shame whenever I remember throwing it out when moving.

The Nazgul had a full cloth outfit (besides the hood) and the overall set was huge.

I agree.

That's why it's amazing that we have InArt's Aragorn with great likeness, accurate and realistic looking costume, with so many accessories, all in HT price,
and only cost $30 more than asmus' aragorn, which, IMO, lacking all those things.

No company will be ballsy enough to make a 1/6 Sauron so that’s out of the question.

I hope you're mistaken, as someone else has said on here, Sauron is obviously THE Lord of the Rings, but given his sheer size they might struggle to move a lot of units. For diehard collectors though its a must have. I almost jumped on the 1/6 Weta statue but since he's fixed to a base it pushes his total height beyond the vertical limit of my displays.

That's the one! I actually replaced the Nazgul with an in scale version from the Armiess of Middle Earth models but I don't remember what company produced those, man such a shame that I no longer have most of my LOTR stuff, simpler times back then.

My brother owned this and it was pegged into the ceiling above my bed, absolutely massive. I also had the massive Sauron probably the size of a 1/4 Hot Toys. Used to chase my little sister around the house pushing the button that makes him say the line "There is no life... in the voiiiiid."

Agreed, we need both companies given InArt will certainly not be going anywhere near as deep into the line as Asmus.

Whilst the hype for InArt's Aragorn will be very hard to beat, if Asmus teased a 1/6 scale Sauron I think that would definitely bring the attention right back to Asmus.

Yeah, I think InArt prices for Hobbits will be challenging... so for me I'd only be willing to pay that once, for Frodo. No way I'd pay that for Merry, Pippin or even Samwise. I wouldn't pay that for Boromir either. So cutting those 4 immediately saves me nearly $2,000.

When InArt gets Star Wars -- and God help us all -- that's when I will become the "original Star Wars only" guy and stick to just ANH characters. Just the 7 heroes alone is going to be at least $3,500... add another $2,000 for Vader, Tarkin and one trooper. $500+ a pop will definitely test your devotion to Star Wars.

Oh dear...I hadn't thought about InArt getting Star Wars. That's gonna hurt.

Holy **** the Sauron, I loved that thing it ended up stored among many figures and some of the armor and the mace was lost, the "I seeee yoouuuu!" is still stuck in my head.

A proper 1/6 Sauron would be a treat to see.

Many years ago I owned the Weta Sauron statue. What a masterpiece. But I got rid of statues and started with action figures. That said, I would buy a 1/6 Sauron in a second. No questions asked.

But someone mentioned the Nazgul - I'm very eager to see what they will do with that release and at which price...It is very hard to get me to buy a figure without HS for a high price, even if they make a perfect wired cloak. But I will probably buy each release from them for LotR.

Yeah I don't think anyone is saying that these other companies should go away. Competition is very much needed in this hobby. Asmus having the sole license for LOTR isn't ideal, nor would it be if Inart was the only one with the license. Comparisons to one another is natural and bound to happen in discussions like this. It happens in all forms of media and product. Phones, TVs, game consoles, etc etc. Having more options is always better for us as a customer and consumer. It's great that we even HAVE the option to compare two different figures to one another.
