Apparently there were two versions of this made. One which was a weaker silver on grey that doesn't look like the statue on screen; and a newer version with better colors. I got the new one.

So my premium, cloakless figure is here gonna rip into the box and see what I got.

The horse is here too. A cup running over today.

so I got this guy in today and I have a few questions/observations:

This is clearly the best Viggo sculpt, but from certain angles, it is not very accurate, especially when looking close up.
I don't get the whinging about the cloak. I am happy with the fellowship cloak that was included
The book did not have very good instructions for the belt/quiver, etc. placement/install. Do you guys just use reference photos?
How does the bottom of the base open?

It is hard to capture the likeness of someone that almost looks like a different person in every scene. I think it looks great, but as I've said previously it really benefits from certain lighting conditions.

Most people will use the Elven cloak as that is what he wears for the majority of the Trilogy. But those that wanted the Strider/Ranger look from Fellowship are the ones upset about the cloak.

Below out of the box, literally sitting in the box. Happy I got plenty of hair, to the jacket. No paint issues with a quick look. The hole where the RANGER CLOAK would have been in the box foam looked sad. :pfft:

And if you like boxes, this is the fig for you Jeez *&^%

IMO the best Aragorn but not 100%, but that was true when I bought him. Until I mess with the hair he looks more like one of the 3 Musketeers.

Got nice dark facial hair too, will have to do a deep look with a magnifying glass later. I was able to pop off the top of the head sculpt holder with my thumbs like opening a can of Pringles.

Will wrestle with base at some point but supposedly it twists open from the bottom.

thanks for the videos. Would have been nice if they included a QR/URL for these videos in the instruction.

Regarding the base, I know to twist it, but with what? My fingers don't work on it and there is no tool included

Twist and wiggle it back and forth slowly. It will eventually free up and start to come up. Be careful not to do too quickly, because it might come off quickly and you could scrap your sculpt.
