Can someone post the previous teasing shots released by InArt? They looked way better.

Also I think this wasn’t mentioned before: the face is covered, especially the strand of hair in the upper left lest corner of the face is very intrusive.

We should wait for more pictures.

Here they are again for handy reference.

This looks phenomenal. I’m just hoping the production version holds up and the price doesn’t exceed $500. Unless the market has completely dropped, I’ll be selling my Crown Gandalf. Glad I never bought the latest Legolas. Looking forward to seeing how that one turns out.

Do you think the Gandalf in Art will have as many accessories as the Asmus?
I really hope it will have at least:
- Cape
- Gloves
- Pouch
- Pipe
- 2 belts (brown and blue with scabbards for the sword)
- Wizard staff

I don't care about diorama

That all seems like the bare minimum for a GTG figure so should be a given.
The diorama is actually what interests me the most and will likely be the determining factor as to whether I buy or not.

Being that InArt figures shouldn't be lost on a shelf and buried among 7 other figures, a good diorama is probably worthwhile.

My guess for this is something like the last stand on the broken stone bridge (similar to what Asmus originally made). That allows for the most dramatic poses.

Heh, yeah, who'd do that? Who'd put IA Jokah next to HT Baleman then throw them in a random movie shelf with Patrick Bateman and Indiana Jones or something.

I really should curate my fantasies more...

It doesn't matter if a figure is $10 or $1k. People will cram their shelves and not rotate in and out to alleviate pressure. Obviously, the rule of "you do you" applies, but balancing your display is a huge part of being a collector.

And then the folks who overload every detolf cube with 10+ figures will complain about how much of a waste an elaborate or quality diorama base is for them because it takes up too much space.

The way I see it, I think they did the right thing with the Joker and offer options with and without display bases. I only wish that they'd offer these bases individually or not wall them off with the hyper expensive options.

It may end up looking more like Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

To each their own of course, but yeah it does seem a bit odd to me when there are collections worth 10s of thousands of dollars but the collector insists on making their Detolfs stretch as far as possible. I do sympathize if they desperately want all those figures but can't afford better display options but for me personally I'd rather pass on a few figures.

I've got a bunch of custom dust proof cabinets with LED lighting, some moducases and a showcase plinth. Currently 3 rotations but looking like I'll need 4. On the one hand it's a bit tedious rotating stuff in and out but I also enjoy the opportunity to handle the figures since I tend not to mess around with them once they're posed.

I for one am hoping they get it down to $400. For me I have not seen enough yet to justify me spending $200-250 more on it than the Crown Gandalf.
That is not going to happen, my friend, sorry.

Heath Ledger's double-pack with rooted hair was for 1100 USD. Double-packs are always cheaper than if you buy/sell two separate figures. Also, keep in mind that Gandalf's rooted hair is way more complicated than Heath Ledger's.
Queen Studios figures are not targeted to the same audience as Asmus or even Hot Toys, they are supposed to be high-end premium figures hence these premium prices. I am glad for that because we need this quality and innovation in the figure world.

I truly agree. (y)

LOTR is very precious. It deserves high quality, and done correctly.
I am just so very glad that we finally have that choice for this franchise's 1/6 scale figures.

I agree!!!

And as these innovations are adopted by the industry, hopefully over time they will bring the price down for everyone. But for now, HT's stagnation has been a hindrance to the hobby for way too many years -- constant price creep, but zero innovation.

I'm very happy to pay for someone to try new choices and new directions.

Pricing will never go down, unfortunately. Innovation comes at a price.

I passed on the Ledger double-pack, even though I've been wanting a faux hair Joker and that I have a big TDK figure collection. I can afford it but just don't want to spend that amount. My 1/6 figure collection days are definitely limited, if this will be the new direction of the hobby.

I would have been tempted if the head sculpt had been available by itself. Would have allowed me to upgrade without having to purchase two figures which I really don't need.

It’s going to come down to whether or not I think the head sculpt and hairing is enough of an improvement to warrant the extra money. If it looks good enough I will probably cave and just sell other stuff off (not LOTRs stuff) to where my end costs for the figure are acceptable. My remaining Hot Toys figures dats are number. Good by Marvel and DC figures. Hopefully the LOTR releases are spread out a little bit and not back to back.
