I see a determined Gandalf in IA's figure, but not a determined McKellen. :'(

Ha that’s exactly the critique I quoted as being the reason we won’t see any sculpt update.
It’s just too nebulous to do anything with other than go back to square one and start again.

‘Furrow the brow, elongate the whole face, squint the eyes and bring them closer together, raise the cheek bones’ etc, they might consider (just examples- not saying these are my suggestions for this sculpt) but this Gandalf sculpt seems to be more subjective in how it’s perceived than most.

This Image, for instance, really does it for me-

Whereas others, not so much.

This is definitely a Gandalf who’s having none of Peregrin Took’s stupidity.

I love it regardless because it reminds me of the artwork by the Brothers Hildebrandt back in the day. Even if it’s slightly off in some for or another (which I’m not saying it is), I love the look of him. To borrow an overused term from a few election cycles ago, Gandalf got gravitas

Well, in my three months old message, which I linked to, I mentioned giving him smaller pupils might go a long way towards getting McKellen's looks. That, and eyebrows that are slightly more arched, too. I just didn't see the point in repeating my old post in its entirety, especially here and at this stage.

The custom still has its own issues imo and I still see more McKellen in the InArt Porto personally, but damn do I feel somewhat conflicted after reading Nyhargo’s comment LOL
