Same. Kinda nice seeing Goldblum front and center again.....

Without Smith dragging the film down with his nonsense, a Goldblum centric film will only make it more "real" since he's excellent at articulating. Still can't believe he didn't get an Oscar for The Fly, or a nomination at least. Stupid snobbish academy.

Looks awesome. I never took Independence Day seriously. Enjoyed it for what it was - a fun, sci-fi blockbuster.

I like that the weapons/ships have the alien tech incorporated in them.

I did take ID seriously, and I loved it. it is one of the best invasion movies in my opinion, and probably the best movie that capture what it would look like if Aliens did attack with a laser like that.

The street mayhem is some of the best destruction footage there was (Before CGI And all of that) War of the Worlds did really good destruction too, but for being the 90s this was some of the best.

I Loved all the characters from the first one, Even Will so I am happy to see this cast.

I'm glad this is a serious take, and it's so married to the original. There's supposed to be this and one other film... and I assume in this film, the Aliens win and take over or destroy the Earth and the third film could be us attacking their planet... if they have one that is.

One thing that has me wondering how much I could enjoy this film is that part of the appeal of the first one was seeing our then 'present day' technology pitted against the Alien force. This film does something logical in that humans have captured and integrated alien technology but will that be as fun to watch? I'm not sure it will.

the only way they won was with a computer virus. Makes you wonder what they would do now.

maybe a killer App :lol

Okay, I watched the trailer again having been disappointed initially. I'm still not happy with the clean CGI look to the whole thing given how gritty and practical the first was (the main reason it has aged so well) But it doesn't actually look terrible over all. And I will of course reserve judgement until I've seen the movie. ID4 is one of my very favorite movies, I expected something different to this, but I am happy to finally have some more from the franchise. The timeline website they have created is great also.

Damn!!! I was hoping to see Brent Spiner in that trailer too.

He was in the trailer, he was just 6ft below the surface ;) Not quite sure how they are bringing him back, I guess we'll find out.

But you never see him killed outright, do you? The Alien just seemed to be killing everyone but him, and then just used him as a microphone. I haven't seen the film in quite some time so correct me if I'm wrong.

No he was dead, save for some kind of miracle.

Maybe he had a crazy scientist twin ;)

Yeah, I remember Adam Baldwin's Major Mitchel character checking his pulse and not getting anything, Okun was staring blankly eyes open as well after the alien released him, but hey, you never know. :huh

Atleast with this movie it's not one we should be taking too seriously. The first movie had it's goofy moments, it is what it is.

It had too many clap breaks. I think the film is excellent, right until they attack and then the film doesn't really know what to do with itself.

:lol

I'm excited for this! I like the original enough as an adult. Loved it as a kid. It was a big deal. I love the dated technology and the cheesy computer virus plot. I had all the action figures and they came with mini games on floppy discs. Good memories.

I still have mine. :)

Shouldn't he be the one in the glass cell after he went all :gah: in the first film :lol
