I totally get what Otto is saying. I think it's like magic -- after awhile the tricks just wear thin.

It is harder and harder to be genuinely surprised by a movie. But still, every now and again, a surprise comes along. And it is just so welcome. That doesn't mean it has to be a "great" film by any stretch -- just that it touches you in the same way that films of the past may have done.

Most recently, from the big franchises, I got that sensation from "Rogue One" (not a brilliant movie but there's just something about it that harkens back for me) and I got that sensation from "Infinity War" (which I still enjoy rewatching). There's a few others -- The Winter Soldier, GOTG, The Martian, to name a few...
The last two films that really made me appreciate cinema were Fury Road and Blade Runner 2049. Visual spectacles with great characters , worlds and stories….

A source told the Mail on Sunday newspaper that producer Kathleen Kennedy wants to make “big, bold changes” to the franchise.

They added: “It would be a huge statement, and a great role for Phoebe.”

A spokesperson for the producer declined to comment, while Phoebe’s representatives failed to respond.

I love how some people still try to act like Kathleen Kennedy has no agenda at all and she was somehow equally responsible for both the ST and The Mandalorian.

Happy for him to "hand over" to a woman - but I didn't have a problem with handing over to LaBeouf.
Hand him over to a hermaphrodite amphibian cross dresser for all I care….just make it a good film..

HF is past his time as a adventure actor.

I guess her contract isn't expiring in October then...

It doesn't seem likely since no successor is even being rumored. The top people at Disney are also woefully incompetent so it's not surprising that they would retain her.
I guess Lucas killed both SW and Indy for some anyway. Maybe the videogame from Bethesda might be a good, final adventure for the Indy I knew.

Probably not. The present day video game industry is generally just as bad or worse than Hollywood. Forget about that KOTOR being any good btw. It's being "reimagined" not "remade". The graphics and game play will likely be great but the story will probably be something similar to High Republic.

There's an Indy video game with Ford's likeness?
If that's the case, I will watch the cut scenes.
Watch it be better than the new film. A lot better.

I believe HF was past his prime as an adventure actor approximately 20 years ago.

I was excited to see "Crystal Skull." That was a mistake. It wasn't a good movie.

I guess the problem is that people just loved Indy too much. After all, most characters don't get as perfect a send-off as literally riding off into the sunset after a great third movie, but even in the 90s, we got "Young Indy."

Oh, I wanted to love it. But it just wasn't the same. The little kid episodes were excruciating, and the older Young Indy episodes just felt like boring history lessons.

Seeing Harrison Ford for two minutes in full Indy regalia, sporting a beard no less...that's how I want to remember "Old Indy"....not in Crystal Skull, or the old man with an eye patch from the bookends of Young Indy, and sure as hell not as an 80 year old man in this new movie.

Young Indy sucked. I think I stopped watching altogether after that Mystery of the Blues episode. And other than Ford's cameo, that's a terrible episode.

We should have just let the poor guy ride off into the sunset.

All the Crystal Skull hate.... :lol

While it isn't good, I certainly don't hate it. In fact I think it's better than Temple Of Doom. That's the Indy movie I dislike the most. Every time I watch it I just want to see the women and little kid die. Then maybe I'd feel satisfied. They are both so annoying. Such a different tone from the original.

This will suck, cause, Kathleen Kennedy. Not because it's a new female Indiana. I'm sure Indy will be upstaged at every turn by the better female. Rather than Indiana teaching her and becoming his successor, she'll be teaching and bettering him.

Thankfully I have Raiders and The Last Crusade. I'm content with only ever revisiting those.

TLC was trash tho.

I hate that they made Indy come from a ridiculously wealthy family. They made him Bruce Wayne. It was lame.

In a better movie.

Is it possible for someone to make a fan edit that removes most of the scenes with short round and the Women?

Then it would be a good movie. The rest of the movie I enjoy!!
I can understand why those two may be annoying to some. :lol

I watched ToD as a kid so it never really annoyed me that much. 🙃

I was a kid too, well just pre-teen. I re-watched them all with my kids just maybe two years ago. While I was watching, I quickly remembered the reason that I never really cared for TOD. :(
