Perception is reality: A source at Disney Studios which owns the franchise said: "A handful of different endings have been shot and are being shown to test audiences. In one, Indy dies but not before handing over his bullwhip to Phoebe’s character."

Even if it's not real, when "rumors" like this hit the mainstream media, they take on a life of their own.

Personally, I don't give a **** anymore one way or the other, but to definitively dismiss anything in this day and age, is just digging you heels into the sand to pick a "side."

All we can do is wait and see what is delivered... but based on the way Hollyweird works these days, I always assume the worst.

I like how that bonehead made a video saying that an article printed in some trash tabloid (based on his made up story) now validates it all as "TRUE."

That dork has never, ever been right about ANYTHING. "My sources deep inside Lucasfilm tell me..."

What a joke.

Anything for clicks. That goes for the Daily Mail, too.

Just been wading through this, and I have to ask... who the hell listens to a dude who calls himself doomcock? :lol
Well, I do. But "listen" is a relative word. If bored, sometimes I'll kill a few minutes watching "conspiracy"/secret knowledge vids with the same fascination as when someone tells me that half the people on the bus we're riding are aliens. Although in an urban area, that might be true. :lol :alien:

As for this film, IMO it's one of those - "Son, just don't"

While it's easy to discount the upside-down ice bucket-wearing putz and his constant whining, it's pretty hard to ignore Kennedy's track record. That alone is enough to make me want to skip this and surf through it on D+ when it ends up there a month after it c & b's in the theater. More out of morbid curiosity than anything. Indy's movie exploits ended for me when we collectively watched Henry, Sallah, Brody & "Junior" riding off into the sunset at the end of "Last Crusade"....

Yeah, I can see how watching his videos could be very entertaining. I'd have to do it in "private" mode to avoid having my YouTube flooded with right-wing conspiracy theories. :lol

Except that’s not what he said. I don’t care for him either, but I at least do due diligence about things rather than make up fake stuff about what someone says and then rant about how dumb that fake stuff I just made up about someone saying is. I’m neither CNN nor you.

What he actually said is that he was validated because this other publication independently received the same internal information he did, from a source other than him or his source. Do you see how that’s different from what you claimed? Also, he actually has been accurate about some things, he has also been very wrong, but to say he has “never, ever been right about ANYTHING” shows your ignorance on display even more. Again, due diligence versus “I said this so it must be true.” Now to be fair, he said there were multiple endings and all had Ford dying and being replaced, but the article claims only 1 of the multiple endings had this, which he doesn’t address, and still makes some of his other claims suspect.

If accurate that this article was not based on him or his source then you have 2 point verification, which is obviously more significant to his “rumor”. Besides, Kennedy replacing Ford’s Indy with a female Indy Jones isn’t that unbelievable to begin with.

I don’t care about Doomcock, he is annoying, or Indy 5, I was out after Crystal Skull, but I get so tired of people who proudly know nothing about what they are talking about, and proclaim it so loudly.

I don't believe there was any other source than his video. It's circular. He made it up, claimed "inside sources at Lucasfilm" and then the Mail saw the video and printed a story claiming "inside sources at Lucasfilm said..."

I'm looking at the dailymail article now. It says:

But now sources in Hollywood say Ms Waller-Bridge, 37, may take over the lead role from 80-year-old Ford after film-makers shot a series of possible endings. In one version, Ford’s character dies after passing on his famous bullwhip and weathered fedora to Helena.

A source at Disney Studios which owns the franchise said: ‘A handful of different endings have been shot and are being shown to test audiences. In one, Indy dies but not before handing over his bullwhip to Phoebe’s character.’

This article was published AFTER Doomcock's video. The language is kept intentionally vague so as to imply more than directly state anything. Their "source" is most likely Doomcock's video, and by simply playing the "Oh an inside source said this" game, they're off the hook for having to provide any concrete details. And since they're an actual newspaper, they can always stand behind the old "I can never give up my sources cause I'm a journalist with integrity, damnit!" chestnut.

The newspaper industry is almost dead. They're as desperate as buzzfeed and all the rest. ANYTHING for clicks. Anything. Even taking a dumb rumor and reprinting it in the hopes that it'll generate just a few bucks worth of ad revenue.

I mentioned in another thread that I'm a mega-fan of the band Guns N' Roses. It's not easy being a fan of that band, cause they have ZERO communication with the fans. Sometimes we go years without hearing any news. I'm on a few forums just like this dedicated to discussing the band. More than once, I've seen topics and rumors that WE started being reprinted in magazines like Classic Rock as if they were from official sources. We made it up in the first place!! Like I said, these things are all circular.

What I find infinitely depressing is the fact that a frigging MOVIE is made with "a handful of different endings" to be tested.
That in and of itself is testament to just how far down the drain movie making has gone. There is close to zero artistry, and certainly zero vision, to these "beloved" blockbusters.
I'll take George Lucas' or Zack Snyder's idiosyncratic movies over audience-tested, lowest common denominator, crowd pleasers.
Hell, I'll even take Cameron's bland stuff. At least it's his own sort of blandness.

Yeah, sadly movies as products made to be consumed is more obvious than ever. I don't like it, but knowing it makes them sting less when they disappoint. Thankfully, the good ones last and you can always go back to 'em.

That's common enough, yet do you have a source for that "fact"?
Link, quote, citation, anything, thanks!
