Just saw it for a 2nd time and I didn't fall asleep once! Funny, I thought about the graveyard scene this time and was thinking "they should have gone in the daytime."

As for Karen Allen grinning - every single one is appropriate. I think the one that throws people off is when she drives by the cliff - but she's noticing the tree and making a plan for getting in the river - it's obvious on the second pass that's why the smile, but I could see where people could be puzzled by that grin and blow it up to her grinning all the time. The other 2 times are obvious why she's doing it within the context of the story.

I just remembered something I thought of during the screening, when Mutt says: "You're a teacher?" And Indy replies: "Part Time" I was totally anticipating Indy's reply but Harrison's delivery was absolutely terrible in the film. However, I distinctly remember this line from the trailer being delivered more strongly.
I think they used a different take in the film, and it was the worst they could've used. I hope they replace Indy's reply with the one from the trailer for the DVD release.

The more I think of Karen Allen's performance, the more I don't like it. She doesn't even seem like the same Marion Ravenwood from Raiders. It may have taken place decades since Raiders, but it felt too completely out of character.

Just saw it again tonight, and I did enjoy it more than I did last time. I just sat back and watched it objectively this time. There were some really good moments in it. No movie is perfect, different era, different feel, but and Indy movie all the same.

I noticed Indy's "part time" reply seemed different too, but I figured it was just seeing it in the whole scene that made it seem that way.

Just saw it for my first time :whip
Thought it was great though I'm not sure if I liked the whole Alien concept
I also didn't like Mutt's Tarzan Vine swinging, But other than that it was a great movie and I will most likely go to see it again :D

I totally love the Doom Toom/Fridge/Atomic Bomb sequence now. One of my favorites.

Yes I loved that sequence when Indy is pretty much like wtf is going on when he sees all the mannequins in the town and realises oh ^^^^ i need to get out of here :lol

Yeah, thats a definite oh crap moment. I also like it because it really shows this is no longer Indy living in the 30/40's when the world was totally different.

That whole sequence is the part I disliked the most in the movie. Maybe I'll like it more after I've seen it a few times, but I have a hard time imagining that. I halfway considered leaving when the fridge saved him.

Saw it on opening day and was not impressed. Hopefully will like it more the second time around but there is no way I will pay to see it in theaters again.

No way, dude. The Fridge saving him is the 1950s Cold War equivolent of surviving a plane jump on an inflatable rubber raft. Once you get used to it, it's just good fun and 100% Indy.

And that mushroom cloud shot kicks way too much ass. :rock

I agree...one of the worst scenes in the movie for me.

The mushroom cloud shot is awesome. I just would have preferred it if Indy didn't stumble in to the mock town in the first place and just saw it from where that rocket sled thingy stopped. Or if they really wanted to show how extensively they tested the bomb I suppose having some military person see him anf get him out. Of course I suppose that would be rather dull.

I agree, the mushroom cloud shot was amazing. Very well done.

It also reminds you that this is NOT the pre-WW2, 1930's Indiana Jones. This is many years later and the world has certainly changed with Indy along with it. Battles aren't decided with guns and small bombings, but by nuclear weapons.

See, I think him stumbling into Doom Town itself is great. Just seeing Indy in that sterile "Home of Tomorrow" 50s environment (with the television and music) and all of the stark bright colors is just awesome stuff.

Exactly! Besides my post above I've been saying this since I saw the movie when it came out.

I noticed that too. I remember the same thing happened when I saw Return of the King. Aragorn's speech at the black gates in the trailer was delivered differently and imo better than how it was in the film.

I thought the fridge scene was a brilliant spoof on those old duck and cover films that told kids to hide under their school desks to survive an atomic blast. :rotfl I love that whole opening sequence.
