Re: IPhone OS 4.0

IMO he gets what he deserves. I read a lot of people on other forums talking trash about Apple because they probably arranged the whole thing for publicity. Yeah right....if this is true then I hope Chen never has to pay for another Apple product for the rest of his life.

I love Woz because he's so freaking awesome.

Wooks, you're the only one here... :D

Next generation iPhone unscrewed from Vietnam (update: video!)
By Thomas Ricker posted May 12th 2010 3:23AM Breaking News

The kids at Taoviet have really outdone themselves. From the looks of these images, the Vietnamese site has nabbed an honest to goodness 4th generation iPhone -- a 16GB model to be exact. It's clearly pre-production judging by the XXX placeholders on the backside stamp and likely lacks a bootable OS, just a "Bonfire" test routine. Nevertheless, it looks authentic enough that we expect Apple's henchmen to be busting down the guy's door before he pries it open to reveal Apple's chipset of choice. A few more pics in the gallery.

Update: We've spotted a difference from this model and the unit that Gizmodo bought. Notably, the pair of screws at the bottom of the device are gone. The cleaner design could indicate a newer prototype (closer to the actual retail model) though both the iPhone 3G and 3GS went to market with a similar pair of screws. Comparison shot after the break.

Update 2: Oops, too late Apple, teardown pics added showing an Apple branded processor. Note the black "N90" text on the white sticker -- that's the rumored internal codename for Apple's next generation GSM iPhone. Yeah, that looks like the A4 processor to us.

Update 3: Video! Unfortunately, this sucker's never going to boot to the OS. And if the translation in our comments is correct then the unit was purchased for US$4,000

I like it. Can't be released soon enough. I dropped my phone again today and it needs to be replaced ASAP. The screen's already cracked, but now the button that switches it to vibrate broke off.

you'll have to wait.
AT&T has the contract thru 2012

I know, I've waited this long. What's another couple of years? Although I do wish that these rumors of Verizon getting it sooner would either a) stop because they're getting my hopes up or b) become true.

And that's if it hasn't been extended since May 2007, which is also possible. All that's publicly known for sure now is that they signed an exclusivity contract in 2007 for 5 years.

So... no outrage about data caps?

https://www.engadget.com/2010/06/02...-changes-to-data-plans-iphone-tethering-comi/

imo, It's great that there are now more affordable options for people who don't use much data. On the other hand, if we're getting charged by usage, then charging an extra $20 for tethering is beyond ridiculous. If I'm buying bandwidth, it's up to me to decide what to do with it.

I was going to post something.

I am pretty pissed about it, I would be even more pissed about it if I had an iPad with a data plan.

I see this as a major step back...it is like the AOL days with pay per minute or hour or whatever it was. AT&T needs to invest money into their network if they cannot handle it.

Oh, I'm pretty effin' pissed about it.

I'm sure Apple isn't very happy, either. AT&T could be shooting themselves in the foot here.

Depending on how it is when my contract is up which is like in a year I might be dropping AT&T.

Waiting to see Jobs reaction.

I've never really gone over 2GB a month, but I've come really close a few times. And I'd hate to have to ration my own data usage and keep checking it just because they want to kill Unlimited plans (for any new contracts). Especially since I was planning to use my iPhone as a tether. Screw this.
