VERY excited to see how these turn out. Sounds like you work fast so I won't have to wait too long!

Wow. I've been away (in Europe) for a couple of weeks and it's amazing what's going on here at SSF.

I'm very glad to see the sculptor of the Time Capsule Ben Franklin and Einstein figures here among us. They are two of the figures awaiting customization on my workbench. My Einstein, after repainting and body swap and new casual clothing, will be astride a bicycle, which I've already acquired.

So, I missed out on the discount pre-order Tony Stark, but that's okay, because as Bogie said to Claude Rains, this could be the start of a beautiful friendship. Welcome and hello C.Howes, SCULPTOR!

Howdy! Glad to be here.

I'd love to see what you do with Einstein and Franklin. Keep in mind Einstein didn't like to wear socks....

I think I still have molds on the heads if you're interested. Of course the casts will be bigger do to the shrink they get in manufacturing. I sculpted those 9% larger, if memory serves.

I would love to get a Kakihara (manga version, seen below) commissioned in the same style as the Medicom manga Ichi I have on the way but there's no way I'd find enough people who wanted one to get the price to something reasonable and make it worth Mr. Howes time.

Oh and money sent :)

Hello everybody!

Here is a first look at RDJ in progress. Please be aware THIS IS IN AN UNFINISHED STATE. The suggestion of shoulders is for my benefit and will be removed before molding.

Constructive criticism is always welcome.

I may post a link to a video of him rotating later. It's always better to see it that way to get a sense of it's 3 dimensionality. Photos tend to flatten and distort.

Sorry a couple are out of focus, I was working fast before I lost my light!

The likeness is definitely coming along....I'm not sure about what it is but I'm getting a really big Zod vibe from it though:

I think its the neck and the face is a bit too slender. Excited about the progress though!

I can see the tweaks you have planned, I'd also extended the hair too, one of the strands almost hits the eye...

Agree the tweaks you are indicating will really make the sculpt pop! Thanks for the pics, it's looking really good! :D

It's the little tweaks that make or break a likeness. My technique involves printing out the photo to exact size, then taking measurements with my calipers and dividers for feature placement. So basic measurements should be very close.

Now, if I can nail all the little things it will be RDJ.

Comments are helpful, fresh eyes see things mine might miss after staring at him for so long!

What I'm seeing is maybe slightly smaller eyes, a longer nose, rounder cheeks, and thinner lips. Oh and maybe a slightly lower hairline. They're all small things, but as you said it's the small tweaks in the arrangement and shape of facial features that make all the difference.

I'm liking it a lot so far...........I do see some major differences in the hair. RDJ has kind of a off center part and both sides are combed towards the back, with some hair from the frontal area hanging down towards the face. The sculpt so far seems to have all the hair on the top of his head combed towards the front. Kind of looks like mine sometimes, a comb over. :) From what I have seen so far and the tweaks you have mapped out, I think this will turn out nicely.

Wow, it looks awesome so far! I can't wait to see what the next batch of photos looks like. I think ded summed up most of the things I noticed with it, and they're all extremely minor.
